Question about 2001 Honda Civic
We just bought a 2001 honda civic. Drove it home 50 miles. No problems. That was yesterday. Today we drove the car for a short time and the temperature indicator went into the red. We filled up the radiator with antifreeze, and drove about 10 miles. Now the overheated, steam and antifreeze everywhere. What can we do?
Hi from uk the 1st thing to do is check for coolant leak/s you mentioned that you filled up coolant first time o/heated then 10miles and o/heat and loss of coolant ? so there hopefully is a coolant leakage which can easily be fixed diy ? once you locate leakage come back with info so we can help/advise ? then the other question is what is other possible senario ? possible head gasket ? or the water pump which is driven by the cambelt is leaking these possibilities will cost more to fix by garage but not beyond diy if you wish to ?? the point thatdrove 50 mls home ok then another 10 mls b4 you checked coolant ?? oil etc ? rquires some thought as to was this reason for selling ? due to some coolant leakage that prev owner knew of but could not finance repair ? it is not my intention to worry you at this stage but sincerly hope it is a simply fault as i mentioned above SO if you check things i listed and oil level etc also look for any sign that work has recently been done around engine ie clean parts etc if you find anything by all means come back with as much info /symptoms as you can then hopefully we can sort this for you keep thinking positive waves! not negative ps just had a thought! last night here in n/west uk there was very severe frost/freeze and if you had same at your location ? you may have suffered frozen pump / rad / hoses ? resulting in the symptoms you have once engine warms hopefully so will keep finger crossed for you please update best wishes from uk
