Question about 2000 Jeep Wrangler

I have an annoying chirping sound coming from the dashboard.

I have an annoying chirping sound coming from what appears to be the dashboard. It only appears when the vehicle moves at around 12mph. The sound accelerates with the speed of the vehicle. You cannot hear it from the outside, only within the cab? It justed started with the colder temperature (6 degrees). Can anyone help? It's annoying the sh-t out of me!

Speedometer cables used to make that noise but I'm fairly sure yours is electronic. I'd check underneath and see if a driveshaft U joint is rusted or loose. That sound will "transmit" and appear to be coming form someplace other than the actual source. Check all driveline joints just in case it's not the driveshafts.

The small block Chevy engines commonly wear down and break rocker arms. The chirping is caused by a lack of oil between the rocker arm and ball.

Chirping sound

Start with the AC , when the sound starts, turn off the AC and see if it goes away. If that works, you have a problem with the AC compressor pulley. Check the other pulleys by taking the belt out and turning the pulleys one by one and seeing if it makes noise. Let me know how it goes.

Sounds like you have a faulty wheel speed sensor. Take a look at the wires at the front wheels. After time they tend to dryrott and the insulation falls apart. Once that happens it only a matter of time before the wires break. The wheel speed sensors will only come into play once the vehicle is moving which is why your getting the time delay before the warning light comes on. If all the wires look in order then at each wheel speed connector you can hook up a dvom and check for resistance. Wiggle, bend and move the wires around and see if the meter goes to OL or open circuit. Let me know if you need any other assistance with this as I'm happy to help any way i can.

Try spinning the rear wheels by hand and see if you can hear the noise, if not it may need to have a load on the wheels indicating a possible bearing, or could be a loose brake pad or backing plate. Also see if anything is touching the drive axels.

check your transmission fluid level. see if it's burned. you can try changing transmission fluid, but only half at a time. If you change all your fluid at once, you could blow some seals on older vehicles.

Sounds like your serpentine belt is dried out.Replace your belt make sure belt tensioner is ok,or you can make sure that it is your belt by using a old candle or belt dressing that you can purchase from your local parts store. While engine is running VERY carefully touch the candle to the ribbed side of the belt and let the wax rub off onto the belt the squeak or chirp should change or go away.Or just spray the belt dressing on per the directions on the can.
