Question about Honda Odyssey
2005 Honda Odyssey with 53,000 mi - airbag light on dash stays on (first came on 52K mi) - dealer ran diagnostic and says "SRS unit faulty causing the light to stay on - estimate to replace $540" Do not know yet if car subject to or repaired for NHTSA Campaign notice # 05V344000 which refers to SRS front air bag sensor control module issue.
In any case, hard to believe customer must spend $540 to ensure air bags work when car has had no accidents and always dealer maintained - I am in Northeast and will be back to my dealer as well as calling region Honda Service Rep as do not believe I should pay
Any thoughts on how to be customer advocate to get fixed for free or much more reasonable co pay

I have had the same problem on two Chysler vans..(1993 and 1994).. the ABS brakes on these cars are the pits.. Dodge will charge you big $$$ to replace the whole unit (which will break again).. plus they don't honor LIFE TIME warranty... The solution..
Rip out the ABS..and put normal brakes in..it's not big deal and will cost about $150. You need a Brake Booster, Master Cylinder, Proportion valve and a Brake pedal... and a Saturday.. I've done it twice now.. I got all the parts (via the internet) from a junkyard in illinois (a common 'Kit" that they sell)
