You probably are referring to the heated 0 2 sensor. It is located rear of the catalytic convertor.

Where is the o2 sensor on a 2004 blazer located


Removal & Installation

Raise and support the vehicle.
Support rear of the powertrain frame.
Remove four rear frame bolts.
Lower the frame no more than 73.2 mm (3 inches).
Disconnect the rear oxygen sensor electrical connector.
Remove the rear oxygen sensor from the rear exhaust manifold.

To install:

Install the rear oxygen sensor in the rear exhaust manifold. Tighten the rear heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) sensor to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
Connect the rear oxygen sensor connector.
Raise the frame.
Install the four rear frame bolts. Tighten the frame bolts to 100 Nm (74 ft. lbs.).
Lower the vehicle.

WARNING: Handle the oxygen sensors carefully in order to prevent damage to the component. Keep the electrical connector and the exhaust inlet end free of contaminants. Do not use cleaning solvents on the sensor. Do not drop or mishandle the sensor.

CAUTION: Remove oxygen sensors with the engine temperature above 48C (120F). Otherwise the oxygen sensors may be difficult to remove.

A special anti-seize compound is used on the oxygen sensor threads. New service sensors should already have the compound applied to the threads. Coat the threads of a reused sensor with anti-seize compound P/N 5613695 or equivalent.

Location of oxygen sensor on 2004 blazer check engine light keeps coming on. Replaced sensor no change. At bank 1 sensor is not connected when tested.


Removal & Installation

Raise and support the vehicle.
Support rear of the powertrain frame.

Where is the bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor located in a 2006 hyundai sontata gls v6?


The bank has to do with which side of the engine. The 'Sensor 1' indicates that it is upstream of the catalytic converter.

I have a 07 f150 4.6L V8 and I need to replace the Bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor but cant figure out which sensor it is since there are 4 sensors. Where can I find a picture of the location?


Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S)- The Bank 1 Sensor 1 tells me that it's an upstream O2 sensor. The larger the number the further down the line of the exhaust it is. Removal & Installation 4.2L Engine ford-04-42-2750.gif
To Remove:
  1. Raise and safely support vehicle.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  3. Detach electrical connector from right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  4. Remove right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  5. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  6. Remove heated oxygen sensor.
To Install:
  1. Apply anti-seize lubricant to heated oxygen sensor threads.
  2. Install heated oxygen sensor. Torque to: 34 ft-lbs (46 Nm)
  3. Connect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  4. Install right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  5. Attach electrical connector to right inner fender splash shield (if necessary).
  6. Connect battery ground cable.
  7. Lower vehicle.

  1. Raise and safely support vehicle.
  2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
  3. Disconnect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  4. Remove heated oxygen sensor.
To Install:

  2. Install heated oxygen sensor. Torque to: 34 ft-lbs (46 Nm)
  3. Connect heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
  4. Connect battery ground cable.
  5. Lower vehicle.

Here's the steps on getting to it and replacing it:


Removal & Installation

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the catalytic converter Y-pipe.
  4. Unplug the VSS electrical connector.
  5. Remove the VSS protective heat shield.
  6. Remove the retaining bolt from the VSS.
  7. Lift the VSS out of the transaxle.
  8. Remove the driven gear retainer and the drive gear.

To install:

  1. Inspect the O-ring on the sensor and replace if necessary.
  2. Install the driven gear and the retainer.
  3. Place the VSS into the transaxle.
  4. Tighten the retaining bolt to 36-53 inch lbs. (4-6 Nm).
  5. Install the VSS protective heat shield.
  6. Attach the VSS electrical connector.
  7. Install the catalytic converter Y-pipe.
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.

WARNING
The sensor uses a permanently attached pigtail and connector. This pigtail should not be removed from the sensor. Damage or removal of the pigtail or connector could affect the proper operation of the sensor. Keep the electrical connector and louvered end of the sensor clean and free of grease. NEVER use cleaning solvents of any type on the sensor! NOTE: The oxygen sensor may be difficult to remove when the temperature of the engine is below 120°F (49°C). Excessive force may damage the threads in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipe.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. For 3.1L engines, unbolt the coolant recovery reservoir (do not disconnect the hoses) and position aside. Unfasten the engine torque strut bolt, then rotate the engine forward.
  3. If necessary for access, raise and safely support the vehicle, remove the intermediate pipe and heat shield.
  4. Unplug the electrical connector and any attaching hardware. NOTE: Some late model vehicles utilize two oxygen sensors.
  5. Remove the sensor from the vehicle. For some vehicles, it may be necessary to use tool J 29533/BT-8127 or equivalent to remove the sensor. To install:
  6. Coat the threads of the sensor with a GM anti-seize compound, part number 5613695, or its equivalent, before installation. New sensors are pre-coated with this compound. NOTE: The GM anti-seize compound is NOT a conventional anti-seize paste. The use of a regular paste may electrically insulate the sensor, rendering it useless. The threads MUST be coated with the proper electrically conductive anti-seize compound.
  7. Install the sensor and tighten to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm). Use care in making sure the silicone boot is in the correct position to avoid melting it during operation.
  8. Engage the electrical connector.
  9. If necessary, install the heat shield, attach the intermediate pipe, then carefully lower the vehicle.
  10. On 3.1L engines, rotate the engine back to its original position, then install the torque strut bolt. Position and fasten the coolant recovery reservoir.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.

Install heated oxygen sensor number 1 in volswagen jetta


Hi:
The Number 1 Heated Oxygen sensor is located in front of the catalytic converter. You would need to get the car up in the air, and then disconnect the electrical connector, and possibly need a special socket to remove the sensor. Also remember to purchase and use Oxygen sensor safe anti sieze compound on the threads of the new sensor, if you do this your self

Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) SPECIAL SERVICE TOOL(S) REQUIRED Description Tool Number Oxygen Sensor Wrench T94L-9472-A
Removal and Installation
NOTE: If excessive force is needed to remove heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) (9F472) , lubricate heated oxygen sensor with penetrating oil prior to removal.
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301) .
  1. Disconnect heated oxygen sensors from engine control sensor wiring (12A581) .
  1. Raise vehicle on hoist. Refer to Section 00-02 .
  1. Remove heated oxygen sensors from dual converter Y pipe (5F250) using Oxygen Sensor Wrench T94L-9472-A.
  1. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten heated oxygen sensors to 36-46 Nm (26-34 lb-ft).
