How to fix pajero fieldmaster transmission? the gear only runs till 3rd gear and stops there..so if i step on the throttle up to 3x10000 rpm the temperature will rise..so i have to maintain only to 2x10000 rpm..and the temp is normal..the air filter works and **** air, the turbo works also, there are no lose wires on the fuel injection..the atf is still clear not burn..but ever since i got the fieldmaster i havent change the atf but b4 i took the vehicle it never runs for a long time..the a/t indicator blinking every 30sec estimate..but sometimes it doesnt blink for about 30mins in travel..what else should i do besides draining the fluid atf if it still not changing up to 4th gear..?thanks the engine is 4M40 1999model diesel 4X4 28000li

you transmission has a 4th and OD solenoid. it is cotrolled by a solenoid box. usualy if this happens either the solenoid or the box is burnt. you can take out the solenoid and bypass it. it will only shift to fourth. not in OD

I actually have the same problem just a few mos ago with my Pajero Fieldmaster 4M40 A/T. Is your speedometer working? My speedometer sensor is intermittently working if it does not work at all, the tranny will not shift to 4th gear no matter how hard you push the gas pedal to the limit!! I replaced the speed sensor and it goes back to normal now.

The Transmission computer is the Achillies heel of many Mitsubishi vehicles , it sounds like your Pajero is in " limp home " mode which gives you third gear only.
See if you can borrow a replacement computer to try.
Mitsubishi scrimped on the quality of the capacitors in their computers and their failure rate is very high.

For car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.

For more troubleshooting, I suggest you to get the Following help link checked, its complete step by step procedure to inspect gear shift issues: -----

I found my engine Mitsubishi pajero fieldmaster Model 2002 with rough idle when I started this morning. It took sometime before running well

unsure if this is petrol or diesel model. check basics first, air filter not clogged, sparkplugs not sooted and gaps burnt wide. if it is a GDI V6 model, thay have common fault with dirty throttle body(TB) and air mass unit, causes rough idle and gets worse over weeks until it doesnt improve.this can be easily fixed by cleaning with solvents available for air flow sensors and tb's. if engine has plastic cover, remove this to access TB
