I have a 2005 Saturn vue with the 2.2L engine. I have an oil leak from either the top or bottom pan. Can the lower pan be removed without removing the engine?

Definitely, assuming you're talking about the oil pan. Drain the oil, remove the pan bolts, remove old gasket and clean it. Reinstall oil pan with a new gasket and your done. Don't over tighten your pan bolts! They will snap, or damage your oil pan, especially if it's made of aluminum.

I am changing the drivers side carrier housing! I pulled the wheel, and c.v. axle, I removed all of the bolts holding the Housing to the engine, and removed the driveshaft. It will not fit through the hole...

you will need to remove the steering rack, frame crossmembers, and motor mount stud nuts.then CAREFULLY lift the engine up by the oil pan with a jack. The jack must be positioned on the passenger side of the oil pan.Or you can remove the oil pan.

Changing the tramission filter on a 2007 Saturn Vue Hybrid

Hello and welcome. here is the instructions for removing the trans filter. you will need to drop the bottom trans pan off to gain access to the filter.

  • Remove the oil pan bolts from only the front and the sides.
  • Loosen the rear oil pan bolts about 4 turns.
  • Lightly tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet or pry in order to allow the fluid to drain.
  • Remove the remaining oil pan bolts.
  • Remove the oil pan.
Install the oil pan attaching bolts.
Tighten the bolts to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

Need the torque value and pattern for an oil pan replacement on a 2003 Saturn Vue 4 cyclinder?

    There no exact procedure.
What you always want to do with something like this is to work diagonally in small increments.
So hold the pan up while you get 2 opposite bolts started, then start all of them. Then slowly tighten until resistance.
What you do not want to do is move sequentually along the bolts because that will push a bulge in the gasket.
You want to work at least in quarters, and in at least 3 increments of tightening.
The last tightening should actually be the next day, if you want to do it perfectly, because gaskets will give over time. But will break or crush if you move to quickly. The ideal with some like cork, used to be to presoak them. But that is not usually recommended any more.
A torque wrench is not really that much of a help because it encourages people to move too quickly, or crush the gasket if they move too slowly. You are better off simply getting a feel for it.
If you are just learning on your own car, just check it a week later. If some came loose, you did not tighten enough.

How do i change the drive belt on a 2003 saturn vue v-6 L81

well its fairlly involved, you must remove the air intake and air box bottom, remove the engine mount, and place a jack under the oil pan with a piece of wood inbetween, otherwise youll crack the very thin oil pan and it will leak,, the remove the bracket on the side of the engine that the mount attached to and then using a 15mm socket pull on the tensioner and the belt will come off, then reassemble

Remove oil pan from 2007 Saturn Hybrid Vue

Believe it or not, it is a VERY simple task. Take a flat-tipped screwdriver and tap in between the motor and oil pan. All automotive books say the SAME thing. This is regular practice and will NOT damage anything. You have to pry the pan off. If it is adhered this good....make double sure you clean both surfaces off before re-applying the new pan gasket. A scraper (has a razor blade on the end of a handle) will help the clean the block surface.

One thing to remember, once you get the gasket sealant oneither the block or the pan, let it set till it is tacky. Then, as you put the pan back up, work a cross pattern to install the bolts and only start them finger tight. Once you have all the bolts on, tighten then again in a criss cross pattern and try not to overtighten them until you have them all snugged down. Then tighten them to specs. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!! You gasket will start to "seep" out and then you will have to repeat the process for a leaking oil pan.
