My car will not go faster than 35 mph. I went to auto zone, they performed a test which stated transmission malfunction. Could it be the Solenoid?

My experience with these cars is to take them too the dealer for the diagnostics and estimate for repair,it's not that expensive and it lets you know where you're standing in the ball park, then you can shop around and compare

Why is my 1999 Chevy Blazer rpm goes up high but can only reach up to 35 Mph and doesn't go any faster?

Hello,

Do you have a Manual transmission or an automatic transmission?
Manual: Clutch
Auto: Front pump - Tranny rebuild - $400+ for bench job (you uninstall and reinstall transmission).

I hope this helps.

My 2007 dodge with 5.9 diesel is showing engine malfunction light and error code of P1740, failed TCC or overdrive solenoid. The truck seems to run ok in overdrive but I don't understand what the TCC...

Code P1740-Torque converter clutch did not lock up when the PCM sent the command. Enabling conditions: No engine or transmissions codes are present, vehicle speed was under 70 MPH, TPS was under 33% open. When the PCM commanded the torque converter to lock, no change was detected in engine speed. Blocking action: This code can block the following monitors: none.

Testing: Check torque converter solenoid for proper operation.

NUMBER: 21-11-00
GROUP: Transmissions
EFFECTIVE DATE: October 02, 2000
SUBJECT: 46RE Transmission MIL Due To DTC P1740 - TCC or OD Solenoid Performance
OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves the replacement of the transmission pressure boost valve cover plate.
MODELS: 2000 - 2001 (AB) Ram Van 2000 - 2001 (AN) Dakota 2000 - 2001 (BR/BE) Ram Truck 2000 - 2001 (DN) Durango

NOTE: THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 46RE TRANSMISSION BUILT BEFORE AUGUST 01, 2000 (MDH O8O1XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may complain of a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further analysis, it is determined that the MIL is caused by Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P1740 - Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) or overdrive solenoid Performance. Other than the MIL, the customer may not notice any other condition with the transmission.

This condition may be caused by an intermittent and momentary TCC disengagement condition. The transmission valve body pressure boost valve cover plate has been revised with a larger size orifice hole to address this condition.

NOTE: THE DRB III(R) MUST BE OPERATING AT RELEASE LEVEL 50.4 MDS2 SYSTEM CIS CD2067 OR HIGHER (AVAILABLE THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 2, 2000) IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE REVISED TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH STALL TEST. DO NOT USE EARLIER VERSION STALL TEST TO DETERMINE CONDITION OF THE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH.

Here can find the test in pdf format: 2009-11-28_034958_1124.pdf

Hope helps.

My 2000 dodge caravan just went into its limp mode for the transmission. It is staying in second gear and will not shift higher. What could be the reason?

The transmissions available in your caravan are problematic for having a bad solenoid pack. Once the transmission is set in the LIMP IN mode, then you need to take it to a dealer to get the code reset from the transmission and to get it diagnosed properly. I'm sure there will be a code such as, "trans solenoid stuck in LR" which means " low range" if the transmission went into limp in mode, then that simply means it defaulted to second gear only. Which is telling you to have it looked at asap. I'm sure if you repalce the transmission solenoid pack and gasket and perform the re-learn procedure, then your problem will go away. good luck!

I went to Auto Zone & have a computer code of p0770-Shift selinoid E malfunction...What is it? & how do I fix it? How much does it usually cost?

Shift solenoids control your transmission shifting. More than likely you will need to replace that solenoid, which is located in the transmission valve body. I would guess its about a $300 repair depending on the price of the solenoid.

Overdrive light flashing No lock up

There are several things that can cause the flashing light. sometimes a simple fix is the change the RABS, this sensor is on the rear differiential and is not too expensive. Change it. Pull th epositive cables off of your batteries fro 15 minutes. Hook them back up and see what happens.

    Transmission

this will cost a bit but, its a needed repair. the solenoid controls the overdrive gear cycle. when it malfunctions, the OD will not operate. this isn't good for fuel mileage.. you can still drive this vehicle around town but the highway is a different story when it comes to the gas mileage.

When i accelarate the speedometer goes to 35 mph and stops. the faster you go, the speedometer drops below 35 mph.

the sppedometer gets a signal from the vehicle speed sensor in the transmission. The speedo cluster then converts that signal nd sends it to the speedo & odometer and to the enine computer. I suspect you have a bad speedo head. Does the odomter record correctly?
