Sounds like you need to check coolant first if its in range you will need to replace thermostat or flush system try that order then let me know

Assuming the fan works ok, it sounds like the cable from hand control to heater valve has come off or needs adjusting or replacing. Or (less likely) there is a problem with the mechanical valve. The valve needs to open to allow hot water to flow through to the mini radiator (heater radiator) and then both coolant pipes and mini radiator get hot with a warm engine. Try moving the valve lever by hand (somewhere above the clutch pedal).and If you start getting heat with the fan on the fault is the cable..

Be sure that cooling system has been bled properly after . Start engine while cold with cap off, and heater on. Let engine get up to normal operating temperature and allow thermostat to open and close 2 or 3 times and rev engine slightly once in a while for 5 seconds or so to help improve flow. If you have rad where you can actually look in and see flow, that's better otherwise watch coolant return bottle and temperature gauge. Feel if any difference at heater as you bleed air out. Once you start to feel better /good heat, then it should be bled properly, then top up coolant return bottle and re-install cap properly. Let me know if that helps.

heater core cloged, get car hot check heaterhose going into heatercore should be two inch thick hoses going into the heatercore, underhood against firewall pasenger side, after hot while running heater on, chech to see if both hoses r hot, if one is cold,that means there is a restriction in the heatercore, sometimes on older cars there is a external valve run by a vaccume hose, or cable, thats fixed in with the heater hoses , sometimes this valve jams and can be manually switched.

Drained radiator added prestone Radiator flush refilled and started overheating, drained radiator replaced thermostat and now I get no heat from heater,Radiator water is hot


disconnect the heat hoses going into fire wall , put hose into one with pressure and flush as it sounds like it could be bloked in the heater core,the other thing that could be the problem be the hot ,cold switch as it restricts the flow to makes the heater hoter or colder , it might need tlc or replacing as it is manaul not elec

My 1999 Chevy Malibu runs hot? It started when it overheated. We changed the thermostat, then water pump, then temp sensor gauge and the temp gauge goes high but only when the heater stops blowing hot...


Air pockets will make the guage do that, and also cause your heat to come and go. Also, a poor radiator, as in rotting, or plugged up, will cause high temperature issues.

Fiat seicento 2000 reg keeps overheating after going 5 or so miles, light comes on then grumbling and water from expansion tank. had new radiator switch put on, took fan off and tested-works ok- but not...


This may be a puzzle...
The seicento (I drive the same car) likes to create problems in the heater section of the cooling system. The small pipes to it (behind the carburator) may be blocked or the entire heater may simply be dirty. Flushing the system with a water hose may help. Usually this problem starts slowly and goes away if you re-start the engine and then excellerate a few times. Check if your heater blows hot air - if yes, and if he keeps blowing hot air (does not cool down and get cold) ther is no blockage. If you have a blockage, your heater will only blow hot for a little while and then comes normal cool air - if this is the case, you have a blockage right in your heating system which runs your cooling system hot and the cap of your cooling tank will start leaking. This is a comon problem on older Seicentos....
Other general problems can also be the case, like defective thermostat, fan motor does not come on (check fuse and relais first).
In some cases, ther might be some air trapped in the cooling system and doing the above will also cure it. At last, check if your water pump is working.

Heater valve was replaced..Now Engine temp rises
