These vehicles have common problems with the encoder motor on the transfer case due to corrosion (also called 4wd shift motor), and in a few cases the switches in the dash are problematic. hope this helps

Check your Actuator to see if its working, or it could be your push button control.

I put my truck in 4 wheel drive and went to go made a pop and not it wont go into 4 wheel drive the light lights up but wont engage the 4 wheel drive

Based on the info posted, I believe you may of experienced a shift fork tab failure inside the transfer case and the gears that are moved by the shift fork no longer can be moved correct because the tab on the shift fork is either broken or worn down.

2007 auto wrangler, went to put it in 4 wheel drive & the shifter moves freely & won't go into 4 wheel drive. This happened the 1st time I took it out, but there was resistance when I went to

why not RTM , read the manual

first what are you driving on, we DONT KNOW.

1: dirt. mud, grass rocks , clay, sand. off road?

2: ICE or solid snow?

3: or non iced pavement

PART time 4wd is for 1 or 2, and never 3

only AWD works on #3, or you WILL damage the drive line.

see stop driving...... here.

NO, the issues is with you.

they wont tell you the truth to be polite and take your wasted cash or time.

wiki 4wd, and read, its all there, all versions, and all the rules.

I have and 08 wrangler and a Japanese jeep and have had 5 jeeps now.

not one is AWD. nada. and never pretend it is.

that is what the PART means,,,,,

you can use it part of the time and never on hard pavement.

(one guy said, i can do it going straight and i said, ever seen a road that dont turn, yeah)

I was researching the recalls for the 2002 tundra and havent found any recall pertaining to the 4whl drive. Sometimes when people have their 4wheel drive locked in and drive on pavement for any length of time, whether it be just a couple of feet or a couple of miles, over time it creates a binding of the gears in your transfer case. Once the bind is so great, the engaging and disengaging starts malfunctioning and leads to bigger problems overall. I could be wrong about this being the problem that you have but I think its something to look into. It wouldnt hurt to put your vehicle up off all fours and release the bind if any by running through the gears while in 2 and rour wheel drive while all four tires can move freely and release. See if that works for you. Check your gear oil front , center and rear and use much caution when attempting this suggestion. Also refer to your owners manual troubleshooting section for other possibilities. Merry Christmas. By the way, the electrical switch should be covered in the troubleshooting section also.
