Question about 1991 Nissan Pathfinder
Most likely if your key is worn out ,so is your ignition cylinder. You can by a new lock cylinder ,but they are expensive and cost around $100-$200.I would find a auto salvage yard, give them your v.i.n. number, production date(on sticker drivers door),make and model.See if they have a used cylinder or a complete steering column that you can remove the lock cylinder from.Make sure either one has a key that is not worn.A used column should be around $65 to $90.Good luck, hope this helps.

Tips for a great answer:

Contact the service department of a dealership that specializes in your make of car. The local Ford, Dodge, Chevy or Nissan dealership can fabricate a new key based on your VIN and other information.
Call an automotive locksmith. Companies that pop locks for stranded motorists often have the capability to print new keys, depending on your car's specific make and model
Get in touch with roadside assistance if you are an AAA member or subscribe to a dealer-specific roadside service plan. Some of these agencies can get you a new key, and the ones that cannot often reimburse part of the cost of calling a locksmith.
Test any replacement key your receive in your car's doors and ignition before paying for the service. Modern keys have electronic transponders; they may fit in the door, but that is not a guarantee they can start the engine.
