Question about 1997 Mazda Protege
I just picked up the car yesterday at Sears auto, where they did a tune up work for which I paid over $200. Just this morning it still wont start. this was the second time they worked on it. The 1st time the guy changed the batery, obviously that wasn't the problem, this time he told me the car needed maintenance because since I have it I never did any "tune up" so I said fine.
But the car still won't start!!! I am really thinking about geting a lawyer for this matter because I am not sure they are doing their job I can't keep on spending money I don't even have on this car when it won't even work!!
Any advise plz?
Do you also have a problems with the check engine light coming on?
There seem to be some common problums with this car.
CAT converter going bad, Yours has two.
O2 sensor going bad, This will not make it not start.
Have you ever spilled a drink near the cup holder?
This is where the circuit board that runs the car is located.
Over all its a great car, but repairs tend to be expensive.
#1 Don't go to Sears for other than general maintenance. You have DEALER related problums.
#2 Don't waste your time with any lawyer, I could easily defend Sears. Was there intent to screw you over? Not for $200. Sears did all they were equipped to do to help you .
Sorry, Not the best news But,
Hope this tip helps.

Yes the check engine light just came on yesterday and I went back to sears and they actually told me the same thing, something about censors in the engine but they told me to come back on monday, it wasn't too bad. But you said it's not the issue anyway. I don't really remenber spilling anything near the cup holder, but if I did it must have happened a while ago, not recently anyway. I was thinking about going back to sears today hoping they will fix it for free since I was there just yesterday, I really can;t spend anymore at this time.
Thanks for your answer!
