Hi
Check the earth lead to the battery they will need to be tight and ensure that no wires are contacting the earth and make sure the earth is secured to the car body with a good contact, it sounds like the new battery is tripping out the alarm.

Also make sure the bonnet is not pushing down on anything, when closed.

Hope this helps
regards
dan

Check out the instructions for the alarm system, it might be that the alarm needs re-setting (in the same way that you will have re-set your radio when you changed your battery).

If there are no instructions about this in the alarm guide, have a word with your local dealer for the car and/or the alarm maker.

The unlock button on key wont work, when i use the key to open door the alarm goes off. The car drives but doors lock when I am inside and alarm goes off when I get out?

Have you changed the battery over on the key fob? If you key doesn't have a battery in it, then the chip in the key may be bad or the key may need to be re-synced with the cars ignition module.

Now the alarm won't switch off after the battery died

Disconnect the battery and fully recharge it. Reconnect the battery.

you could also try holding the Lock button or holding the Open button. Each alarm system have slightly different ways to reset.

Car unlocked but it sets the alarm ... car locked alarm goes for no obvious reason s type 4 liter.

Are you using the the keychain to lock unlock the vehicle? A low battery in the keychain will send wacky codes to your vehicle alarm system and will not set properly. Try using the key in the door to lock unlock vehicle. IF the alrm does not go off when using the key in the door, then you probably have to change the battery in the key chain. Best guess without being there to look at vheicle.

Alarm Issues

I have been having this same issue for the past 6 months. So far no one can give me an answer that solves the problem. I have done several things unsuccessfully 1) changed the battery (still happens) 2) flipped the valet toggle switch under the steering column (still happens) 3) I lock the doors using the automatic lock button on the driver and/or passenger door (the alarm will not self-activate and go off, but this still doesn't solve the root problem with the alarm)

Can not lock car by key remote . toyota rav 4 53 plate

If your car has an alarm with a separate remote, it is a separate system and it is probably self-arming. When you lock the doors with the key central lock, the alarm gets armed by the RAV4 being OFF and the door locking action. When you unlock the doors with the key, the alarm is still armed because the key is not comunicating with the alarm just the cars factory keyless system.
