I suggest you obtain a Chilton manual or other to trace the problem, but if you found the realty and jumping the power to the pump manually works than swap another realty to test, if still not working the fault may be in the engine management computer (EMC), with the manuals help you can identify the wire for the pump realty at the EMC and probe the wire with a test light connect the ground wire for the test light to positive not to ground, wile cycling the key on and off the light should come on for 5 seconds or so then go out, cranking the engine should hold the light on if there is no activity with the light your EMC is defective, if OK than trace the fault back to the realty there is an open contact also before you tare the EMC out, check to insure the fuel pump fuse is OK, and the test light from ground to the fuse shows power

How do I jump a fuel pump relay of a 1988 GMC K2500 with a 5.7L to get power to a sending unit from a 1998 GMC C1500 with a 5.0L V8?

Not sure that we are thinking of the same thing. The wires to the gas tank operate the fuel pump and the fuel gauge. The relay is used to send power to the pump and you should not have to do anything to it to get power down the wire to the pump. When you turn on the key, the relay closes and power goes to the in tank fuel pump.

Just brought 2000 chevrolet venture van have fuel pump isseu but not pump i checked fuse box someone have a small black wire connected to fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay that blow so i replace both...

It's possible someone used the jumper wire to load side of fuel pump relay, gray wire. That supplies voltage to fuel pump motor, the fuel pump fuse is hot all the time. The fuel pump will run all the time even with key off, running down the battery. They used the jumper because of some kind of problem. Can you unplug the relay and check relay terminals, where the relay plugs in. Use a test light, either a problem on the load or control side of relay. Are the relay terminals numbered, like 30 and 87, maybe 85 and 86 also?

Cannot find location of fuse for fuel pump on an 85 Ford F250. Is it in the power distribution box. If so what is that location

Hi, it may be a fusible link in the wire rather than a fuse. Note that there may also be an inertia switch in the circuit. I have pasted the 1986 diagram below, which I think is correct for the 1995 fuel injected engine. I recommend probing the relay socket to see what is wrong. The yellow wire should be hot, else check the fusible link. The red wire should be hot when the key is on--this is the positive signal to the relay coil. The tan wire should be ground when the key is on. If all of this is right, the brown wire to the pump should be hot when the key is on. If it is, the problem is the inertia switch, the wire to the pump, or the pump itself. If power is getting to the pump and the pump is good, check the ground connection to the pump.

1988 chev silverado v6 no power going to the fuel pump. i checked for power where it plugs into the fuel pump on top of the tank and i got no power. what actions can i take to get power

check all ur fuses for continuity first, then u can also try to swap out ur fuel pump relay with another relay that looks jus like it, be sure to use a relay like for ur horn or ac relay something that wont affect necessary or direct engine circuits like for ex. an ecm fuse or bcm fuse. if fuses r good an swappin relays wont work, next is to trace bak from fuel pump ur wires an possibly keep back probing to see if u have a broken wire from relay box to pump . good luck hope this was helpful . in ur fusebox ur fuelpump fuse should b labeled or easily found in fuse box legend, most likely on bak of fusebox cover....

Fuel pump does not work, is there an inertia switch on it? The connector wire shows 12 volts but will not light test light. Jump the wire from fuse block under the hood to the fuel pump and it works, is it...

under the hood in the black main relay and fuse box.look for fuel pump relay.the relays most likely bad. or a loose wire to the fuel pump.has it been wrecked? have to ask yourself alot of questions when you bypass the pump straight to battery and it works. start with simplelest 1st. check main fuse relay and fuse panel 1st.then go to wiring harness that goes to the pump. thank you for choosing
