2001 oldsmobile aurora cranks but wont start

Yes your brother is partially right. the code says that it is the sensor circuit. so test the sensor and the wires. Does it seem to turn over faster than usual? if so your suspicions would also be correct (timing belt).

I HAVE A 2001 DAEWOO NUBIRA THAT RUNS FINE MOST THE TIME BUT OTHER TIMES IT LOSES POWER AND STALLS.SOMETIMES IT WILL CRANK RIGHT BACK AND STALL WHEN I PUT IN GEAR AND START TO GO.OTHER TIMES YOU HAVE TO...

If I recall correctly there was a recall on the camshaft position sensor. In some cases it would melt.
MAKE: DAEWOO MODEL: NUBIRA YEAR: 2001 DEFECT SUMMARY:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES, THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR MAY MELT RESULTING IN A BURNING SMELL AND VISIBLE SMOKE, WHICH MAY SUBSEQUENTLY LEAD TO THE MELTING OF THE CAMSHAFT COVER AND THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WIRE HARNESS.
CONSEQUENCE SUMMARY:
THIS COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE AN UNDERHOOD FIRE.
CORRECTIVE SUMMARY:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS AND INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL FUSE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAEWOO AT 1-877-362-1234, OPTION 6, OR FIND A LOCAL DEALER THROUGH THEIR WEBSITE AT WWW.DAEWOOUS.COM.

I have a 2001 ford powerstroke diesel it was

Could be the Camshaft Position Sensor (CPS) again. Did you have it replaced by the dealer on the Ford unlimited recall ? It's easy to check...get under the front end of the truck and look up by the harmonic balancer (sits behind the main pulley) on the passenger side and you'll see a sensor (could be brown but I believe that one was the recall color, most likely it will be black) with two wires coming out. Is it secured onto it's mounting bracket ? Is the wiring plug snug into it's socket ? If so...it could very well be a defective CPS. It's not unusual. Any possibility your batteries drained to a point where it's not cranking out enough ? Also consider, you may have originally had a different issue besides the CPS.

Check the cranshaft position sensor located under the timing cover. Also check the camshaft sensor located near the camshaft.
