Question about 1996 Mazda MPV

96 mazda mpv minivan 165k mi. Ran fine until one day just died.Had towed home.3 mech.tried diagnose gave up wouldn't start-turns over-no start. Last mech.replaced timing belt&idle pulley. Still no start but turns over good acts like going to start but doesnt -$550.00 later!!! Help! Is thier some trick to timing belts? Also threw no codes on OBD 2scanner.

Step on fuel pedal to the floor, turn it over if it starts sumthing in fuel line, can you hear your feul pump when you turn the key???? is your distributor cap ok, all the wires ok hooked up, mite fuel pump relay, or just a fuse under dash under hood..

The engine on my 2000 MPV cuts out and dies when I press the accelerator. After it sits for an hour or so, I can travel for 20 min. or so before the problem starts again. HELP!


if its been a while change the fuel filter and then have the fuel pressure and volume checked.these symptoms are very common for a fuel pump problem.

On my daughters 97 mazda mpv it set a code P1345 CMP or SGC sensor circuit Fault .I just replaced the valve cover gaskets, I removed the upper intake to remove valve covers. I also replaced the 2 vac lines...


Look at your cam positon sensor harness and connector. Also pull the sensor out and look at the tip for abnormal wear (ie: chips, breakage, ugliness) Check for "mouse abuse," they love eating wire insulation. Most likely your sensor is bad. In the rare case you might have a damaged reluctor wheel.
Your Evap Code: large leak, that usually means that you left your gas cap loose. Or the seal on the cap is in need of replacement. Also if you've had any of your hands in the fuel tank, if you were messing around with the pump, you may have a damaged/leaking tank seal. OR if you were messing around with the vac lines you might have crossed the evap return line with the supply.

I was browsing unsolved problems. If you still have the problem, I'll try to help you. But it's going to be awhile trying to communicate back and forth. First...Check the engine for spark. Take off a plug wire and stick a screw driver in the wire end and place the metal part of the screw driver next to something on the van that's metal. Have someone crank it over for just a second or two and see if a small spark jumps from the screw driver to the metal part. I'll check back for your answer.

My sons 1990 626 ran great. I change the oil and reconnected the speedometer cable that had vibrated loose. took it for a drive to make sure I didn't have any oil leaks. It ran for about 5 minutes and just...


we'll assume fuel is good..leaving spark and air..and management of systems(computer /sensors)...so the speedo cable was disconnected? try taking it loose again , test drive and report back please
