Check all tires for wear and pessure. check all fluid levels and if close to change intervel have changed. check lights and windshield wipers. check spare tire for correct pressure and ensure that all tire changeing equipment is there and useable. put together a small safety kit. small first aide kit, a gallon of distilled water, a quart of oil, a flashlight, a small tool kit, a blanket, you can use the blanket as a rear seat cover, all of this should fit into a small milk crate. good luck with your trip
