Question about 2001 Ford Ranger Regular Cab

1 Answer

2001 Ford Ranger will not start easily, runs rough when does...Thought I had water in gas/fuel line freeze up...added fuel antifreeze. Got it to finally start had to use jumper cables. Drove truck would stall when slowing down or stopping at stop sign. Stalled when pulling into driveway. Next time tried to start it took a while and it ran very rough (like it had a cam in it) Now it will not start again.....ready to pull my hair out

Antifreeze? Hello, not good...Antifreeze is not substitute for fuel - might get it diluted enough if you completely fill tank. Or did you use 'Heat' water removal gas additive? See this post on Yahoo:

Had water freeze up in my car engine and radiator. flushed it all out and added antifreeze but my car still wont start

that is not what the problem is , are you getting gas , ck the fuel pressure at the fuel rail should be at 40 to 50 lbs or something like that , could have a frozen fuel line put some gas in it ,try a little ether and fi it starts with that then you fuel pump may be bad

Reduced power light is on and drives slow

Try adding gas line antifreeze to your fuel. If you have water in the gas, this will clear it up. Water in the gas line can turn to slush or even ice when the temperature dips below freezing, causing reduced power because of reduced fuel flow.

Engine just started to sputter

If you recently put fuel in the vehicle, water could be the problem. Usually a bottle of dry gas (gas line antifreeze) and a good fuel treatment such as a can of sea foam will clear up the problem. Also changing temperatures this time of year will cause condensation in the fuel system so you have to keep it clean and dry for the best performance. This means running a good high grade fuel (not from the dairy mart) and adding fuel treatment every couple of tanks; especially if you are in a cold climate which will cause the water to freeze.

MY CAR RAN OUT OF GAS AND WHEN I OUT GAS IN IT DIDNT WANT TO START FINALLY WITH A JUMP IT DID START BUT WAS RUNNING LOUD AND ROUGH AND WOULD STALL WHEN I LET UP ON THE GAS

hi, this a common fault. the bottom of the fuel tank is full of deposits (water, sand, fibres) and will enter the fuel filter (in the fuel tank). there is another fuel filter and fuel pump near the back and underneath the car fuel lines and injectors may be partially blocked called (fuel starvation). can be taken to a garage to blow back the deposits. the best advice drain and to take the tank off and clean it out. adding REDEX can clean the system, but may take time. i hope this is usefull. gerry

Try changing the fuel filter, water trapped in it can freeze. Its a 92 and probably time for a fuel pump. They don't like water either.(Meythonol Fuel) Always change fuel filter when adding antifreeze to fuel
