Its hard to get to.I think it takes a 10mm to get if off,it plugs right on top of the spark plug, replace the boot when you replace the coil

pull the number seven coil. Should be the third one back on the drivers side. Check for spark out of the coil. If there is no spark replace the coil.

you will need a 7mm swivel socket and a spark tester.

It is really common for the coils to fail and likely your problem.

This issue may be cause by a restricted catalytic converter on that side of the vehicle and quite possibly will only affect one cylinder. The other option is a vacuum leak around that particular cylinder.I have seen the converters cause this a few times. Why it's only one cylinder it affects is beyond me logically speaking it should affect the whole bank on that side sometimes it does affect multiple cylinders on the same bank.I guess it may just depend on how restricted it is.

I have a ford f150 that is mis firing on number

The most coomon thing is a coil. You cant really test without a scanner or way to test coil output. But you should replace the spark plugs and the #3 Ignition coil. Use MOTORCRAFT PLATINUM Spark Plugs only. Number 3 is the 3rd back on the Passenger side. Be sure there is no water/coolant on the spark plug well, if there is coolant, one of the heater hoses may be leaking. Take coils out, using a 7mm socket, be sure to blow out the spark plug hole with compressed air before removing the spark plug. Take the rubber boot off each coil and place some "silicone dielectric grease" in th ecavity for the coil end to keep out moisture. Cyls 1 2 3 4 on pass side, 5 6 7 8 on drivers side. After you are done, remove the positive battery cable for a few minutes to clear the memory and long term fuel trims.

Location of 7th cylinder on a 2001 ford expedition 5.4

the order of the park pluggs and coil packs is easy it goes:

driver side passenger side
5 ------ 1
6 ------ 2
7 ------ 3
8 ------ 4

1 through 4 is on the passengers side and 5 though 8 is on the drivers side, and all in order.
