Question about 1988 Chevrolet Celebrity

3 Answers

I have a 1988 chevy celebrity. How do I remove the radio. I could not get the panel off, which covers the screws, holding the radio in place. There seems to be something near the cigarette lighter holding the panel on which does not allow me to remove it. If I look under the dash, I can not see what it could be.

If you haven't solved this problem yet, here is the answer. You have to remove the cigarette ashtray and the mounting bolts, to include the mounting screws that hold the fuse box in place. disconnect the rear defogger from it's wiring and then remove the cigarette clip which is held on by a plastic shielding. It fits on the back of the lighter and can be easily rotated. Then there is a shielding on the cigarette lighter tube that just unscrews. just hold what you think is the cigarette lighter tube and try to unscrew it...it will work. (I just did the same for my car today) then you should be able to remove the grey molding that covers the radio and you will see that it only has 3 screws holding the radio in. I know it sounds like a lot to do, but it's much easier once you see how things work. I hope this helps you out. By the way, I just removed my radio on my 88 Chevy Celebrity, 4dr, 2.5

It should just pop off. there may be a couple of screws in the bottom part, but i am pretty sure they just pop off with a small pull.

I've got a 1988 chevy Celebrity. I need to know what size the torx bolts are to remove the calipers. They are not allen heads. Thank you

Probably a T-50. Due to the use of Locktite on these bolts, an impact wrench will be required. Do not use Locktight when reinstalling these bolt. Just get them tight ( 1/2 in. drive ratchet)

How to remove the instrument cluster cover 98 chevy cavalier

The cover-is that like a bezel? Older cars always used screws to hold the bezel in place. On lots of newer, the bezel or cover just has plastic clips that snap into holes or slots. If you see no visible screws, try pulling the cover off, starting at one end. Once the cover is off, you can see the screws that hold the cluster to the instrument panel.

Need to replace heater core on 84 chevy celebrity

First, drain your system's coolant into a container (and dispose of properly)
Locate the two hoses that go into your firewall. These hoses go into and out of the hearer core and remove them. There should also be rubber insulators on the inlet and outlet of the heater core. Unscrew each hose's fastener and remove these hoses. Do not dispose of these hoses as they will be reused. Next, go iside of your vehcle and remove the under dash cover and then locate the heater duct. It has a number of small screws plus clips that hold it in place, remove them. The duct should then be removed. There is also a small cover over the heater core inlet/outlet pipes. It is held on with three screws, one of which is a little hard to see, remove them and take off the small cover. It may be glued in place by a tar like insulating material. The heater core is held in place by two strap clamps over it which are held on with two screws in each. Finally, Remove the screws and clamps. The heater core will now come out
Reverse the procedure to install the new heater core. Refill the coolant and check for leaks.

I have a 84 Chevy Celebrity stationwagon and the turn signal quit flashing but still comes on, Is there more than one relay under the dash for this. I already replaced the one I found and no change.

it could be the flashing signal switch, the electrical wires in the stearing colum sometime brake, try that. hope it helps you. in order to remove it you need to take cover of stearing colum and usually one plug and two bolts hold it in place. good luck

How to remove the car stereo from 2007 Chevy Colorado

This is not hard but tricky because the trim plate around the radio has clips that hold the trim plate very tight.Use a plastic type flat tool or flat screw driver wraped with tape or a shop rag to avoid damage to the plastic trim and pry the trim panel around the radio loose. remove all elec connectors. Then remove the screws that hold the radio in place and remove all elec connectors.

How do you remove a radio from a 2007 Tuscson city

Don't know the 'City' model... but if it's anything like the REGULAR Tucson, remove the shifter knob (remove access place to two phillips screws - remove screws). Remove shifter knob. Pop out shifter cover plate (snaps in and out). Remove approx 6 phillips head screws holding the metal plate above the shifter pedistal. Pop out the cosmetic cover around the radio, AC control panel and vents (wire harness connectors to digital clock, fog lamps and emergency flashers (and pass airbag light). You now have access to the phillips screws securing the audio/radio unit.

Changing out the radio on 1996 buck century

Remove the hex screws from the lower section of the dash, under the steering column. This will reveal more screws that hold the wood tone panel down. There are more screws visible just under the top of the dash, look carefully as the upper screws, so you do not remove more than you need. Carefully, twist the woodtone panel around the steering column and remove. You will see 2 more hex screws to the right of the radio that hold the black plastic cover just to right of the radio. Carefully pop that cover off to reveal 2 more screws that hold the radio in place. Remove those 2 and the 2 on the left and you can pull the radio forward to unhook the harness and antenna wires.
