$25 and you can replace it yourself 3 zone will cost 75 bucks and is behind the glove compartment..2 screws and 2 wire disconnects and your done.
Yes the power goes from the ignition switch to the fan switch.My guess would be the blower motor resistor is going bad. Check for a melted wire connector at the resistor.
