Your lower intake manifold gasket is leaking,Its a common problem on that engine. As a gm technician we had issues with that intake gasket leaking. Its a very big task to replace so id suggest that you take it to a mechanic that you trust to do the repair. We charge about 250 dollars labor plus parts.Make sure you use fel- pro intake gaskets its a improved gasket design.

Coolant leak in cabin - driver's side 2001 306 cabriolet - 2.0 16v

If you have a coolant leak in the car that is caused by a leak in the car's heating system - either the heater core or the associated hoses and connections.

Unfortunately to get at it is a PIA since it is behind the dashboard. A lazy fix is to stop coolant flow into the compartment and the leak will be gone along with the heat - bypass the heater hoses going to core .

2001 Oldsmobile Alero, Overheating, no visible leaks, oil not milky, coolant mysteriously vanishes?

Well, I hate to break this to you but your coolant is leaving through your exhaust pipe. You may have a bad head gasket or your engine block may be cracked. Coolant is leaking into the cylinders and burning off when the engine fires and exiting through the exhaust.

My 2001 Pontiac montana is leaking coolant when it cool of. Its dripping from the transmition passenger side. I croled underneath and found that the coolant is leaking from the pass side of the engine...

probably a gasket that seals coolant behind cover. I don't remember if there is a freeze plug there.
sometimes a head gasket leak can do the same but not very common.

sounds like you have a bad water pump, common with 3100 and 3400 engines.

I have 2001 alero. Yesterday the coolant light came on and the engine just died. Any ideas maybe fuel pump or timing belt or could it be the water pump

IF LOW COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON ENGINE SHUT OFF BECAUSE IT GOT TOO HOT AND OVER HEATED.WHEN YOU HAVE LOW COOLANT.YOU COULD HAVE LEAKING RADIATOR.YOU COULD HAVE LEAKING RADIATOR HOSES AND WATER PUMP. ADD MORE COOLANT IN CAR RADIATOR UNTIL YOU AT FULL COLD MARK ON THE OVER FLOW COOLANT TANK START THE CAR LET IDLE UNTIL ENGINE GET OPERATING TEMPERATURE.RAISE YOUR HOOD LOOK FOR LEAKS THE RADIATOR PRESSURE WILL PUSH COOLANT OUT WHERE LEAKS COULD BE.LOOK AROUND RADIATOR AND COOLANT HOSES.LOOK AT WATER PUMP.IF YOU SEE COOLANT LEAKING AT WATER PUMP REPLACE IT.

If you had the engine replaced and have the same leak, it may be be somewhere else. You can rent a tool from most parts stores that pressurizes the cooling system. If you get that tool, top off the coolant and follow instructions to pressurize that system, you may be able to see where it's leaking. While it's under pressure, take a flashlight or shop light and look in all the main areas. (hose connections, radiator, water pump, ect)

Coolant leak on olds alero 2000

Engines are designed with frost plugs that are designed to blow out if the coolant jacket should become frozen. Look carefully using a light and a mirror (ladys compact works well) Following the block heater cord to the engine will help locate these plugs. You may find the block heater has blown loose as it is installed in one of the frost plug holes. Best of luck.
