Question about 1995 Lincoln Continental

1995 lincoln Continental.red battery light

I have a 1995 lincoln Continental. the other day the RED battery light ( check charging system) came on. at first it would go on , then off. and now its on and stayed on for the last week or 2. i took a voltometer ( i think thats what its called) and when the engine is off i get 12.25 + or - a few. and when its on it goes to about 14.50 or so. So im guessing the alternator is ok. im probably going to take it to the dealership to have them look at it, but i wanted to see if its something i can fix my self as its pretty annoying. the car runs fine, starts up good. no power issues.. any ideas.

My 98 lincoln continental keeps cutting off I changed the alternator and battery but my dash keeps blinking and it says check my charging system Wat could it be

Preliminary checks to the charging system should be made regardless of the fault condition. These checks include:
  • Check fuses/fuse links to the generator to make sure that they are not burned or damaged. This condition, resulting in an open circuit or high resistance, can cause erratic or intermittent charging system concerns.
  • Check battery posts and cable terminals for clean and tight connections. Clean the posts and cables to verify good electrical contact.
  • Check for secure connections at generator output, voltage regulator and engine ground. Also check connection at the power distribution box and harness.
  • Check generator drive belt to verify proper tension and no slip between the generator pulley and drive belt. Refer to Section 03-05 .
  • Check battery for full charge as described

Battery light stays on 2001 lincoln continental

battery light stay on because there is no output or below voltage out put from the alternator. Check that the battery terminals and posts are shiny clean and tight, if there is a charging circuit fuse (OK). Have the battery load tested . Remove the alternator and have it bench tested by an accredited auto electrician.

Why is the battery red light on?

Is that when the engine is running? If so It sounds like the alternator that charges the battery when the engine runs is faulty and eventually the battery will go flat. Alex

I have a 01 Lincoln Continental and one day it wouldnt start even when trying to jump start it. After paying $69 to the shop they claim the alternator and belt are fine but the battery wont hold a charge....

hello.
If they were testing the battery, they probably took it off. it's quite possible they never tighten up the battery cable. Open up the hood and go to where the battery is and make sure everything is snug. You should not be able to move the red or black cable around. If they do you can have them check that out or tighten it yourself. They could have stripped the bolt. Make sure ground cable that is attached to the body of the car is snug also There still might be a problem with the alternator.
hope this helps

Where is the voltage regulator located on a 2002 lincoln continental, car battery not holding a charge

Voltage regulators are electronic, internal on most units, now days, and not adjustable. Look for failed diodes. Easiest to pull the alternator and bench test it..

1995 lincoln continental. Sitting at stop light, abs light comes on, drove home about 5 miles and abs lignt on and off the whole time. parked car and now wont start. just clicks. any suggestions?

Anytime a starter clicks instead of turning over, you should suspect your battery is weak. Try to get a jump start and take the car to an auto parts store. Most of them will do bettery and alternator checks for no charge.
