Question about 1998 Mazda 626
When you press on the brake petal it sends a 12 volt signal to the tranny that withdraws a pin that holds the shifter in park. (Its a solenoid) I'd look there (both near the brake petal, and at the transmission) before spending any money... Could just be one damaged or disconnected wire . Best of luck!
