Question about 2002 Toyota Highlander

Open Question

2002 Toyota Highlander - Flashing ABS when in Park or not moving; goes away when moving more than 2 or 3 miles an hour. It lasted for about 10 miles of local and highway driving, then went away all together. Just came from changing both front and rear brakes and shims. Any need to worry?

SOURCE: Toyota Highlander Catalytic Converter

You should have the Catalytic Converter replaced at a muffler shop, not a dealer.
Then if you still have a problem have the dealer replace the computer(if it was a recall, it will be free)

The dealer needs to look at your car. They take care of their hybrid customers especially well as far as warranty is concerned. Anything could be causing the light, and there is a problem that needs to be repaired, otherwise the light would go out on its own.

Where is the fuse for the 2002 highlander ABS

The fuse for the ABS in a 2002 Highlander is in the black plastic covered box under the hood. If you take the fuse out, the ABS warning light and the emergency brake warning light will illuminate on your dashboard. The brakes will work as if you never had ABS, and the car will chime when you first start off if the emergency brakes are on.

2002 toyota Highlander. will not go into park. will drive fine in all gears, but from rev to park is basically impossible. Have to push rather strongly to get it there in order to turn off and get key out....

Hello. Welcome to FixYa.

It sounds like the bushing on the transmission, where the shift cable attaches, is either broken or seized.

What to do:

Go out, open the hood, and have someone move the shift lever. Observe the front of the transmission, on the driver side, where the cable meets the lever on the front of the transmission.

The bushing may be seized or broken.

I have a 2002 toyota highlander with 231000 miles on it.How long will it last? still runes good!

regular oil changes and maintenance it's hard to say how long it will last. do those things and fix mechanical problems as they arise and it should outlast the body on the vehicle. i clocked over 400,000 km on my last vehicle which is close to the milage you have run up. it still ran ok and is likely still running. i only sold it as i picked up a vehicle with extremely low miles on it.

800 miles from home, the a/t temp warning light on our 2004 Highlander came on. The book says pull over and put veh in park, idle and if light goes off the proceed,if not the call for help. This happened...

There has to be reason for it happening.
Low water in radiator.
fans not working behind radiator
air restriction at radiator.
thermostat not opening all the way.
transmission not going into overdrive.
extra load such as trailer, boat , camper.
Brakes not releasing all the way.
What changed the last 200 miles.

VW Bora, The ABS alarm is on and the brake alarm is flashing,Brakes are working OK But not the ABS.Is it possible to reset the ABS unit or disable the alarm. Thanks Mike.

My EPC light magically appeared at 20K miles and the car squeaks like mad whenever it's moving. I don't notice any performance loss (engine-wise) in the car when the EPC light comes on but it won't let me switch gears from Park to R or D. I have an appointment next Friday to have it looked at. It's an automatic 2002 New BORA with JUST over 20K miles.
