Heres a quick test. Remove the charger cables and turn on the headlights. If the lights dim way down when you try to crank it over,
but get bright again when you release the key. I would say the starter is bad. But if they shut off, or stay dim. check the battery cable connections. If they get dim, and take a while to get bright, or don't brighten at all. The battery most likly has an internal short.
These tests are good, but the most accurate tests are done with the.
proper meters and scanners. It can save you money and headaches
in the end. I hope I was of some help. Good luck.

    Hi

These tests are based on the fact that the car just clicks.

They are used to help you find out why.

I hope this clears things up for you.

have the fault codes read and replace the faulty units. Ask the service person if they pressure cleaned the engine as that quite often causes problems with water getting into the connections and shorting out

2007 Jeep Cherokee Transmission over temp displaying and will not start after sitting for several hours it will start? Any Ideas

I had same prob - no rhyme nor reason as to when, where or why it wouldn't start. After two new starters the shop finally found a starter wire/cable that was corroded on the inside. Mech' could move it back and forth and it would / would not start. Changed cable six months ago - no problems since. Hope it helps.

Best bet is to start with an aftemarket performance air intake. (ex-K &N, AEM). Exhaust (flowmaster) is the next step. with those two you should an additional 15 ish horses. next step would a chip module. (ex-hypertech). Additional horses for you.

Intake will give you instant results. Throttle response, air flow, and a better sound
Exhaust. Will sound great. May not notice the performance portion, but needed.
Chip Module. Your biggest expense without getting in big, but will take your jeep to the next level. lets your jeep open up and remove rev limits and such. Fun to play with and works. Don't fall trap to knock offs. You find a whole lot junk like on ebay. Stick to the heavy hitters with this. (Jet/Hypertech to name a couple.)
Check out www.jegs.com to look at some performance parts. There a decent site with a lot to look at. Have fun.
