Did you check the wireing to the pump? try connecting a battery directly to it, ie..red to possative, black to neggative, see if that runs then if it does you poss have a broken wire somewhere or relay is u/s..hope this this helps

have the fuel pressure and volume tested with a gage.this sounds and acts like a fuel pump problem.check the fuel filter as well and replace anyways.when it won`t start but cranks can you hear the fuel pump running.listen at the fuel filler neck with the gas cap off.if you can`t listen under the car at the fuel tank you should hear it running/if not hit the gas tank and if the car starts then the pump needs replacing.you should check to make sure you are getting spark at the spark plugs to eliminate an ignition problem but i think its fuel.

If you have disconnected the fuel filter (inlet) side and turned on the ignition, if fuel is not coming out of this line, then there is a fuel pump problem. This is assuming that you can hear the fuel pump actually running. Usually when the fuel pump runs and you can hear it, then there can be a screen on the pump plugged or the pump its self is not working. Hope this helps.

Recently my C70 has started cutting out at low to mid throttle, most of the time it happens from a cold start. It acts like the fuel is being cut off and on, the tach drops immediately then picks back up....

Your description is a head scratcher. The best diagnosis I can come up with is a 'bad pre pump in the fuel tank or pre pump relay'. Fuel passes through a filter sock, then a pre pump within the tank to a second pump under the front seat before going through an in-line filter to the fuel rail where its pressure is regulated by a fuel pressure regulator before reaching the injectors. Can you hear the pre pump buzzing when you listen at the open filler cap (ignition at position 2 but no engine running). Does the second pump at the front of the car sound laboured? Listen for the pre pump and then remove it's fuse (11?) can you hear a difference? Return the fuse for the pre pump and remove the fuse for the second pump (1?) can you hear the difference. The car should just about run on one pump but wont start without any pump. This diagnosis would also account for the 'starting with the cap removed' observation.....one pump will find it harder to supply fuel if there is a partial vacuum build up in the tank.

Best suggestion would be to put a fuel pressure gauge on and and see what the fuel pressure reads when cycling the key off and on pressure should be 37 to 43 any less then this suspect the fuel pump or an electrical connection to pump. When it acts up and you can not hear the pump running try tapping on the fuel tank.If vehicle starts after that suspect the fuel pump.

1996 GMC Suburban - Quit Running While Driving, Will Not Start

Listen at the back by the fuel tank for a 1 to 2 second prime cycle whirr from the tank when turning the key to run position after it has been off for at least 10 seconds.
No noise means no running pump.
....and no noise means.....
Most likely it will need a new fuel pump....80%
Fuel pump relay 10%
Fuse or bad wiring 10%

The quick fix to get home is to crank the truck to create oil pressure to fire the pump......and while cranking WHACK the tank hard with a 2by4 or something like that....to jar the pump..... and it may start running long enough to get it somewhere to be repaired.
This works 60% of the time on a dead pump.

If you do hear a whirrr.....you most likely need a ignition module or crank or dist pickup.

Fuel pump not pumping

You can Hear fuel running? Where in the tank? If so then it sounds like the fuel pump dettached from the supply line inside the tank.
