Does it matter which cable I disconnect from the battery? I would have probably disconnected the positive or both, so I guess theres a reason for the Negative.

Also should I leave the car battery disconnected for a period before disconnecting the seat?

Will the immoboliser require resetting after this?

Disconnect the veichle battery before touching anything. then remove the seat, dont connect the battery until you have the seat fitted again with all wires connected, then reconnect the veichle battery. everything should be fine. just remember not to connect the battery until you have the job fully completted.

you should always disconnect the negative side 1st, for any problem, when you have carried out your repair reconnect the battery, everything should be as before.

I Have the same problem, but I think is only a bad wire connection in a box under sit driver. I'll check next weekend.

I had this problem too in a Renault clio 2 v2, and renault just cut the wires plugs and put it together directly using a soldering iron.

Removing seat fitted with airbag from a 2001 Renault Clio

It is best that you disconnect the negative battery terminal while disconnecting & removing or reinstalling the seat.

Be sure to ground yourself by touching metal when going to unplug any harness in a computer controlled vehicle to prevent static discharge. (the airbag is connected throught the harness you are removing and any spark that would hit that wire, could trigger the airbag to deploy)
good luck

hi as your wife has moved seat forward ? if you look under front seat /s there is a wire loom that has a plug connector this sometimes comes dislodged by moving seat / vacuuming car under seats and accidentally dislodging ? try diconnect and re connection it may put light off usually check all seats your belts will have auto seat belt pre tensioners fitted that tighten if frontal impact of car hope this helps

This light is telling you that you have an Airbag Problem. You might want to Locate a Mechanic and have this Checked out. This is not something that you want to try and fix yourself as the AirBags could go off and Cost a Lot more to have the Dah and Sterring Wheel Replaced. Please Rate my Response, I need all the Help that I can get! Thanks!
