Question about Dodge Sprinter

2005 sprinter 2500, turbo(new) will not engage until van has been driven 10-15 miles and engine temp. is 185, van is stopped, shut-off and restarted. Then the turbo will work. Why? Trained mechs. totally baffled.

Regarding my original question, why would trans fluid levels affrct the operation of the turbo? Or for that matter the starter solenoid? Again, the turbo does not engage when the engine is first started cold. I have to drive it 10-15 miles until it reaches 185 degrees. Then stop and turn the van off and restart it, then the turbo will engage. It is a new turbo unit just installed. These are diesel specialist mechanics that have done better than the dealership mechs. Any other ideas? The van does this same thing every time it is started cold.

You will have to get the transmission gears, the clutch assembly and the transmisson fluid checked.bleed the the system completely and recheck by refilling it.it may be some bubbles got formed in the system not letting the gears to engage and when the van runs for few miles due to the pressure its getting engaged.
or the other reason fault in the clutch/pad system also get the car starter solenoid checked..instead of local car mechanic getting it checked by the professionals at the autozone or car dealer service center is advisable.to get the fault located.
keep updated.thanks.

2006 chevy 2500 express cargo van .What is a good oil pressure for this van. it has 150,000 miles runs great

60psi cold / 30-45psi warm is ideal. I've seen (with that mileage) 45 cold/ 20 warm and that's acceptable - anything less start thinking about a new oil pump.
