You have a worn out starter then. The armature gets hot as you drive and will swell tight against the fields inside the starter. Upon when its cooled off the swelling subsides letting the starter to operate again

It won't start: new battery, have lights, it just clicks when you turn the ignition switch

you mean it wont crank, it must crank to start.
1: bad starter system
2: weak battery even a new battery can be weak.
if you dont charge it first.
or if it starts ok then wont later, that means cars charge system failure.

can you jump start engine? with jumper cables.
that be a big clue there, proving starter works but battery was weak.
if the battery is fully charged.
you can hot wire the starter solenoid, (tiny terminal)
if car cranks now, the key start wire is failing.
A/T or M/T tranny? both use different path here....??????

if you cant hot wire it, then that means the stater is bad
the cables bad or the battery is not really connected.
or possible the engine is seized, can you hand turn over the engine at the front crank bolt (CW , facing rear, in neutral)
if not motor is seized.
some times even the starter and rig gear can be seized.
the starter can be bench tested. too.

The starter is probably getting weak and needs to be overhauled or replaced. When it's worn enough it won't turn over a warm engine. Maybe get it checked to be sure but a test will likely show it drawing more power than it should. Engine temperature woulden't affect the battery. Hope this helps.

When you start the engine it drags what could it be ? it does this when it gets hot

have the starter and the battery testedm a hot engine takes allot more power to turn over than a cold one, so weak batteries and starter motor problems will rear their ugly heads, Kragen and Autozone will test this for free.

Engine starting problem

Problem is probably the starter motor. The windings probably have a burnt spot and wont turn over readly.

Starting problems

it sounds like either the starter relay or the solenoid the contact points in it may be burnned if so it wont make a good connection
