If you have the 3.8 just follow the uper radiator hose to the thermostat.If you have the 3.1 you will need to remove the intake manifold or the exhaust manifolds.

    On the 2006 the Termostat is located at the end of the LOWER radiator hose, not the upper.

I have an 2006 chevy Impala when I turn on the deforst it also turns on the air condition and blows cold air I change the thermostat


When you turn on the front window defroster, the A/C compressor is suppsed to engage.
If all of the guages are set to hot and the A/C is off when the defroster is turned on and the vehicle is at normal operating temp., then you may have a faulty blend door actuator and needs to be replaced.

it is on drivers side of block on hose-block connection, pain in **** to change. there are 2 -10mm bolts..good luck

The coolant temp sensor located ( below the thermostat housing in the intake manifold )
