2011 acadia when taking foot off the gas pedal there is a knocking noise

The front motor mount and the upper engine strut mount both commonly fail. Start engine and have someone rev engine and let off while you look to see if either mount is moving excessively. The noise you are describing it is likely either or both the mounts.

DIAG NOISE FROM ENGINE TIMING CHAINS NOISY

Wherever the engine stops there will be at least a couple of valves held open and overnight the force of the valve springs can force the oil from some of the hydraulic tappets (if fitted). Some engine designs can take as much as 20 miles to cease tapping...

Some timing chain tensioners are oil damped.

If noise disappears when you top up the engine oil the clear solution is to top up more often - the engine oil level should never be allowed to fall more than 1 litre below the maximum level and it should never be overfilled.

Locating and curing the cause of excess oil consumption can be expensive and complex and the process involves a certain amount of guessing and eliminating so sometimes it is better, quicker and cheaper just to have the engine overhauled.

The general rule is it isn't economic to repair excess oil consumption unless it exceeds 750 miles per litre of mixed driving that doesn't include any sustained high speeds unless there is smoke when the engine must have attention or be scrapped.

Before testing the oil consumption the engine breather should be checked and the oil topped up accurately.

If there are no visible crankcase emissions caused by excess piston ring/bore wear, the most likely cause of excess oil consumption is the valve stem oil seals - unless the engine is so gunged inside the oil being pumped to the top of the engine can't drain back fast enough...

2006 F150 5.4, 4x4, Lariat. Intermittent excessive humming/fan noise from engine compartment

Sounds like the fan clutch bearing is locked up. Running in direct drive will affect MPG drastically. Its a 2006 so its time to replace it. See if the fan blade will spin by hand with the engine off or if excessive wobble is present at the bearing.

4.3 vortec engine , engine noise, knocking or tapping on top of engine, not when cold , but starts noise when it heats up, and gets louder as it gets hotter and hotter!!! Sounds like noise is in the center...

The knocking or ticking is going to determine if it is in the top end, lifters, push-rod or rocker arm issue or the bottom end that would include pistons or bearings.
If it is a ticking noise, it will more than likely be a valve train issue.
If a knocking noise, piston or crankshaft related problem.

Attached is a web site that you can listen to a piston slap which is a known issue for your 4.3.
Listen to the noise and see if it sounds similar to your problem. A piston slap will generally sound as though it is coming from the central area of the engine.
Listen to the recording and let me know.

Noise

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news but the engine has a bad rod bearing. This would create the noise you're hearing and because of the fact that there's excessive clearances at the crank, this makes it a little hard to start now.
