Question about 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee
On many systems, the abs light comes on if both brake lamps are blown. Have you checked that?

With abs if their is a problem with the system the brake system reverts back to a normal setup such which means hit the brakes hard and truck will skid check connections and wiring for damage or disconnection if looks good have truck scanned some auto stores such as auto zone / advanced auto scan for free check in ur local area the trouble code will give u start point to fix ur problem

Brakes will work but no anti lock, which means if you slam on the brake it will skid, with the abs it doesnt allow it to skid so you will have control and not skid, have the abs computer scanned, there will be a code stored, this will tell you whats wrong. it may just be a sensor thats common on these trucks, hope this helps.

SOURCE: ABS brake light comes on.
No there is no reset, sounds like you have a bad ABS sensor on one of the wheels. Only way to tell is to get it to a brake shop or dealer to check it. Good luck dont forget to rate.

The ABS light is a warning that you have an issue with the ABS system. The red brake warning lamp is serious. It is telling you that there is an issue with the base brakes. Your car will be ok with an ABS light, but the red warning lamp could be really dangerous. You should have them checked ASAP. It could be from many causes. A park brake switch, low fluid, the causes are too numerous to list. Please for your safty have it checked. Good Luck

i had the same problem on my 2000 montana, used a scanner to check for abs code and found right front sensor throwing code, checked sensor and found ok, checked harness from sensor to connection under hood and found wiring circut at the plastic clip where harness hooks to sensor was bad, replaced harness from connector to sensor and problem went away
