I have a 1992 chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 while driving it shifts in and out of overdrive

Not sure if this will help but my 92 Lesaber kept down shifting out of over drive when ever I went up a slight hill or when I stepped on the gas even a little bit. One mechanic said I had transmission trouble and I went to another mechanic for a second opinion. my second man said why don't you try something before you get into the tranny.
We changed the spark plugs and installed a new set of spark plug wires. Not only did it stop down shifting all the time my gas milage was a lot better. He said under work load the plugs were mis firing causing lack of power and down shifting.
Good luck.

Hesitation or slight bucking when shifting from 2nd-3rd.

Why are you shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear ? is this a standard or automatic? If its a automatic its normal for the torque converter to catch up with the speeds of the tranny. To save the life of your tranny try to let the tranny do the work by itself and don't shift unless in adverse weather conditions.

I'm having a transmission issuewith my 1985 toyota pickup 4x4. the tranny info is secondhand from a mechanic and i do not know auto transmissions. all i know is that the tranny seems to run and shift...

first things first. have you identified whether or not it is using a kick down cable? if it is, chances are this is your issue. if the colar breaks or the cable gets freyed and sticks inside the sheath, it will cause definate shift issues. let me know

don't get too frustrated jeremy it's not real bad , all you need is a simple tune-up and / or flush . it sounds like a slight issue with the vaccuum in which your getting less than normal as it starts getting warm. old fluid , slight leak at the pan or the output shaft seal , inthe back of tranny at the drive shaft , or aleak in the vaccuum line that goes in to the side of your trans. you have a vaccuum operated valve called a modulator valve that controls the firmness of your shift.less vaccuum the harder the shift. a simple flush and tune will most likely fix your problem. just give her a little finness every once in a while and she wont let you down... she'll be loyal , and if she don't , take her to a ford dealership and drop her off and leave her i a new ford truck. no dont do that just getting into more problems doing that. use a full synthetic fluid to put back into your tranny , depending on your budget of course, bring the shop some lucus or royal purple synthetic fluid to go back in it. good luck
