If the coolant reservoir is always empty you have a serious leak through the system, you need to check the main points of leaks: ends of both main hoses going from the engine to the radiator and back, hoses going to the reservoir and the radiator itself. You can identify older leaks because dryed up coolant has an particular look. Look for an accumulation of white/green-ish/orange-ish powder near these places.

Check your oil level. Make sure the antifreeze is not going into the crankcase. If you have the 2.7 you have a mechanics nightmare.

I have a 2008Chevy Impala SS that just had a tune up a week ago. Today I start it and it would go, but then it just stopped accelerating altogether. It;s NEVER done that and as I said the tune up is a week...

Is the check engine light on ?
If you have no acceleration, the problem could be low fuel pressure or a sensor problem. If a sensor fails, the check engine light should come on.

engine running too hot.check coolant level, should be 50/50 antifreeze and water.replace thermostat and radiator pressure cap.check antifreeze level in the radiator, coolant level should be just below radiator cap, add coolant to overflow jug, should alway be at the full cold mark.empty coolant overflow jug will allow air be drawed in the coolant system causing overheating.if overheating happens when coming to a long stop.could have faulty engine coolant temperature sensor or bad coolant fan fuse or relay.

Just got my 03 back from misfire, gasket replacement (oil in coil area) and full tune up $550. Car running fine for week and a half. Now at idle my engine is shaking and sputtering(rpm) but still runs ok....

Sounds like a fouled plug or loose plug wire or, fouled speed sensor? Do you have a code reader or have it checked for free at Autozone or same type of dealer

I bought a 2000 lincoln ls about a month ago and after we bought it, it started having an over heating problem. Since then, we put new fan, new t-stat, new coils and valves, new radiator cap, new belts,...

I believe you have a head gasket or cylinder head problem (cracked head or blown head gasket).. If it is the gasket, the intake and cylinder head must be removed and a new gasket installed.. If it is the head itself, in addition to what have just said, you will have to have the head repaired or get a reconditoned or new one. This is a major repair.

Over heating

Try checking your antifreeze levels. If you antifreeze tank is low try filling it to the "Fill" or "Full" level. If your antifreeze tank is empty, remove your radiator cap, (make sure the engine has cooled off. If you try to open it while it's hot, you could get sprayed with hot antifreeze) and fill the radiator slowly. Then refill your antifreeze tank. Remember to always mix the antifreeze with water (50/50 mix) for full protection.

What causes oil to get in antifreeze

Driving the truck without a thermostat won't necessarily hurt the engine. It will take longer to get heat and it will be sporadic because the coolant is always circulating. Oil in antifreeze could come from 2 places, transmission cooler in rad if you have an automatic. The lines inside will occasionally start leaking. The other is from the engine, usually a head gasket leaking. My suspicion is that you have a leaking head gasket. This would explain the over heating with oil in the coolant. Take it in and get a pressure test on the rad or a compression test on the engine. This should confirm or eliminate the head gasket. Hope this helps.
