I think you have either a spaceing problem ie need to shim starter or your fly wheel is damaged look at teeth on fly wheel make sure there good also check your book and see if there are shims on that starter

u can call autozone and ask them what or if it requires shims and then you will have to find the thickness whaterver you use with a gap tool or micrometer but first make sure your fly wheel is not the problem washers will work just put them on each bolt between the starter and the block that way they will not fall out check also that a heat shielsd has not been pushed into the flywheel

1995 ford explorer wont start

You could be right. It could also be a bad connection between the battery and starter. It takes 11 volts to crank a Ford starter.
You might want to clean the cables and check the voltage at the starter post.
Could also be a problem with the engine.

How can you tell if your starter is goin bad

A bad starter will kill a battery real quick. If you can find a DC amp-meter compare it to factory specs, or similar car starters. A bad starter will make a grinding noise, or give false tries where the starter spins free without engaging the motor. Of course, a bad starter will not spin at all, just make sure the relay is working.

Gear grinding noise when brakes are applied

I'm guessing you DID resurface the rotors or replaced them? On the bearing make sure it is not overtightened. With the car lifted can you turn by hand and listen?
Not positive about brakes I've always understood they bleed like regular brakes but I would consult a repair manual or dealer (just ask service advisor) Good luck!

93 Ford Explorer Starter won't disengage from Fly Wheel

My ford f150 did the same thing, so I put the old starter solenoid back in( the one by the battery) and it cured the problem.
Come to find out, the after market relays aren't rated right, to get a good one, and the right one, you have to spend more and get it at a dealer.

Grinding starter on my 1988 Ford Bronco II

the sound you hear is the starter grinding against broken teeth on the flywheel, for that to be repaired the flywheel on the vehicle will need to be replaced.

Engine turns, catches, then dies

Could be the ignition switch. When you crank the engine, the ignition coil gets a voltage source that is different than when the car runs. This would give you the symptom you describe.

1993 ford explorer - toublshooting fuse/electical problem

I believe the fuse for your starter is in the power distribution box, 93 explorer 4.0L 4X4. find diagram for this in Chilton Ford Ranger/Explorer/Mountaineer 1991-1999 Repair Manual 26688 page 6-43 Fig.88 Be aware that there are (4) figures for the 93 4.0L explorer and each shows a different part of the same engine wiring. See top right 'power distribution box' follow lines to the part of your engine you are concerned with, which fuse number, then look inside your engine, passenger fender, push down on the protective ?wall then pull the cover up, see your diagram and fuse numbers. The diagram for inside fuse box, page 6-31 fig.63 I hope this helps

1993 eagle medallion strater problems

Explain your meaning of:

won't turn over and start.
Can you hear the starter motor running but the engine is not physically cranking the engine as opposed to the engine actually starting up and running ?.

Or dose the starter just make a grinding noise and is not moving the engine ?
