Question about Mazda MAZDA3

1 Answer

I notice that Mazda has a TSB for the power steering pump failure on the 07, 08 models. I haven't had this problem yet (knock on wood)but what does this mean? Can I take my car in and have the dealer replace the lines and pump, which obviously cleared up the problem for those that had the failure, while it's still under warranty or do I have to wait until the unit goes out, leaving me stranded and possibly out of warranty

    Thanks

No. if there is a current tsb, you may take it in at any time. it doesnt hurt to say youve started to hear noise (wink wink). keep that in mind in case you get some overzealous service writer. go ahead and take it in.

1991 mazda miata oil drip

First put something like paper down under the area of the leak. You will also need to see what type of oil it is.....black-oil; red-transmission fluid or power steering fluid; clear-power steering fluid; green/yellow-cooling fluid.....etc.

I have noticed that at times my steering on my kia sedona lx 2004 gets stiff like the power steering is gone .. as well my coolant levels are fine but i have no heat nor is the a/c blowing cold air .. what...

Some modern cars have an electrically driven pump to supply high pressure oil to operate the power steering. However, most cars have an oil pump for the steering which is turned by a belt from the crankshaft pulley. If the belt is loose or slipping, heavy steering will be the result, especially noticable at low speeds. Check belt for tightness, and check oil level is not low, possibly due to a leak?

In the engine compartment, towards the front look ofr components that are driven by the main belt. A picture of a power steering pump can be seen on this page in this link:
