I had the same problem of starting the car and it dies, it turned to be the transponder not sending enough signal to the cluster. this may require a new transponder and re programing of such.

SOURCE: engine service warning lights

Hi,
You will need "VAG diagnostic software" - (google it) on a laptop and a £15 VAGCOM interface cable if you want to do it yourself.
Cheers, D.

SOURCE: Idling speed vw golf petrol 1.4 2001

That sounds about right, the idle speed may not even be manually settable due to emissions regulations.
I know for sure you can't adjust the idle mixture anymore; that is determined by sensors and the on-board computer.
There may still be adjustments on some cars but they are often sealed with lead to avoid tinkering.

SOURCE: NOX SENOR

I have yet to see a car with a Nitrogen Oxides(NOx) sensor on it. However I have seen Oxygen (O2) sensors. The O2 sensor monitors the remaining amount of oxygen left in your exhaust, and tells your Engine Control Unit(ECU) how much fuel to use. The sensor looks much like a stainless steel spark plug and is found in the exhaust system. Your car being a 1991 it should only have one. It will be up stream of the Catlytic converter, maybe in the Exhaust manifold. cost between 50 and 150$us.

Golf FSI 2.0 (2005 Model) Automatic golf. The Car stats Jerking when changing gears especially from second to third gear whats the problem?

You may need a tune up . When was the last time you changed plug wires and had a decent tune up that will cause a vehicle to jerk when reaching higher gears the more strain on the engine the more it will jerk!!!

Does my golf 1.6 fsi have a cambelt or chain 2005 model

your car has a timing belt.I would recomend also changeing the water pump if you are going to change the timing belt since the water pump is ran by the timing belt.I hope this ws helpful.

Cambelt or chain

Your 2005 VW Golf has a timing belt and not a chain.
Most importantly, your VW has what's called an interference engine.
If th eblt breaks, it will allow the valve to collide with the pistons and you will have major damage.

Be very careful to replace the belt on or before the manufacturer's recommended replacement interval.

VW originally recommended 60k miles or 5 years but that in 2004 or 2005 they changed that to 40k miles or 3 years after seeing belts (and therefore pistons and valves) go pop after about 45k.

VW Golf 5 FSI 2.0 - Misfires or will not start at all when any moisture gets near the coils or injectors. Even when taking care not to use a pressure hose near the engine.

A quick effective inexpensive fix would be to spray your electrical system with a can of Rust Check. While it is a rust proofing it is also waterproof. If you get the stuff in the green can, it is thicker and doesn't wear off near as quick. Hope thishelps.

Hi. i have a 2004 2.0 gt fsi and it sounds like a diesel

the FSI engine is a direct injection engine and they can be noisy particulaly on idle ,if you have no other issues like warning lights lack of power and its always been like it then i sugest it is the nature of the beast .this is not ******** i am a vw master tech and have had many a conversation with customers about noisy FSI engines.hope this puts your mind at rest, alternativly go to VW dealer and get them to take a listen to confirm its normal.cheers

The rear wiper and washer on my 2005 golf 5 GTI 2.0 FSI stopped working

the most common problem is you havn,t shut the tailgate properlly.you may have it on just the first latch in wich case the rear wiper wont work.give the tailgate a good slam to make sure its shut.
