I own a 2007 Chevy Uplander,I jave just replaced the rear track bar and rear shock absorbers, but I'm still getting a rather loud clunking noise in the rear of the van still. Any ideas? Thinking it may be...

If you shift from Drive to Reverse and get that noise then it is a CV joint, you can check this in a parking lot by turning a circle sharp to the left and then sharp to the right. IF you get repeated clunking, it is a CV joint. If you don't get any noise then check the bushings for the lost grommet.

Gear shift seems broke, it won't go into any gear i have a 2005 chevy uplander just happened today with no warning went to reverse, tried to put into drive and there was nothing it just looks broke.

Check linkage at transmission. Cable end may have popped off ball fitting. Just snap it back on .it will pop off sometimes if you shift it hard . Hope this helps

2004 Ford Explorer transmission shift problems, O/D light flashes, engine RPM high.

Stop using it

If have been, you may have ruined it,
just driving ten miles

Have a trans shop diagnose the issues

The clunk into reverse troubles me alot

I used to own a trans shop

Why does my transmission in my 1994 GMC Sierra make a loud "clunk" sound when shifting in to drive? also the service engine light is on

Service engine light could be something else altogether...I'd have it checked at your nearest Auto Zone or parts store. Most times they will do this free.

Now for the "clunk"...I'd suspect "U-Joints" in the drive shaft are going out.
An easy test is to drive and look at mirror mounted on the front window area.
Does the reflection have a vibration in it ? Does it "clunk" when placed in reverse as well ?
U-Joints are an easy fix...and given the model of truck I'd suspect a "U-Joint Clunk"...

Hope this helps...

I have a 1999 GMC Suburban. I have automatic four wheel drive but when I shift into four wheel high it makes clunking sound. I have not tried four wheel low. I wondered why I can still use auto four wheel...

the auto 4 wheel does the same as part time in jeeps, it engages only when the vehicle loses traction. when auto 4 wheel is on the truck isn't fully in 4 wheel drive. my 02 sierra makes the clunk noise too but it does engage. try checking your fluids, i know its way pass the time for me to change mine out.
