The most common reason for this condition is a faulty ignition switch. It loses contact momentarily while cranking, causing a voltage loss to the security system and starts the 10 minute security timer in the computer. It will not start until the timer runs out. Usually the key has to be left on after a start attempt for the ten minutes. Some cars require 30 minutes. I hope this helps you and please rate this,

How do I reset my security code

There is a pretty standard procedure for resetting the security in GM vehicles. This is it.

Perform the re-learning procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY light, after approximately 10 minutes the light will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 10 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes ( the vehicle
  6. is now ready to relearn the Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK).
Start the engine (the vehicle has now learned the Sensor Data Code and/or password).

Your specific vehicle does not actually claim that this works. This is for a few years after your vehicle, but it is worth a try. If it doesn't work, then you may actually have a failure on your hands that needs to be addressed. More info on this site. http://www.diy-gm-security.com/

How could i reset the security lock on a 1999 chevy corvette

I can't find a reset for that year of Corvette. It is a Passlock system. So maybe the normal 30 minute procedure will work.

Perform the re-learning procedure

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY light, after approximately 11 minutes the light will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 10 seconds.
  5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes ( the vehicle is now ready to relearn the Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK).

If not, this site may help. http://diy-gm-security.com/

My 1997 regency want start at times all the lights come on but the engine wont start up, and when i turn the key, there is no sound, then, sometimes it will start, I had it put on a codeing machine and it...

If the engine does not crank, and assuming the battery is charged and the security light is not on, the three most common problems are a faulty starter, neutral safety switch, or key switch.
You would need to know if the starter has battery voltage when the key is in the start position the next time it will not crank.

Driving down the road the car will shut off 1998 Olds Intrigue. Sometimes it will start right back up. Other times it has to set for awhile like to cool down or something. Other times it will not start...

Next time this happens, check to see if the SECURITY light shows up on the dash. The security that comes on that vehicle can actually kill the motor if its not comminicating properly.

If there is a light, check out this link http://vatspasslockpasskeysecurityhelp.yolasite.com/

2002 silverado single cab, haveing trouble getting into programe mode for key fob programe.

this is a fairly simple fix, you will use a method called 3-10's:
step 1 is to turn key on engine off.
step 2 is turn key to start briefly then let off (maybe a second and then just let off key)
step 3 remain inside vehicle do not touch anything for approx. 10 mins. then on your message board the security will quit blinking .
step 4 at this time you will turn the key off for FIVE mins. and turn back on.
repeat step 1-4 TWO more times, after this time you can turn the key off once again and your done the next time you cycle the key, the fob should be programmed to your computer. good luck

Saturn LS1 2000 wants to start but won't

The fab key activates the security system in the car, the ignition pass lock may need to be reset to your ignition key's. It Takes about 30 min to do. Try resetting the pass lock to read your ignition keys. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK. Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself. Good luck and hope this helps. The ignition keys has a resistor value for the ignition to read and after a few years the resistance may change and the Pass Lock has a had time reading it's value so you have to reset the pass lock to read the keys again.

Can't start my 1998 3.1 Monte Carlo

You have a Pass lock problem. There are 3 wires from the Ignition switch that reads the ignition key, if you have lot's of other keys on your key chain. That puts extra stress on the ignition lock switch, which in turns wear out the wires in the lock that reads the key.
The dealer will cost over $500.00 to replace the lock and key's to match. I got a good friend at a lock smith to over ride the system by running a diode across the 3 wires, but now i have no pass lock.
Try this, it might help if the wires are ok, it's to reset the pass lock that the dealer will try and still charge you hundred of dollars since they want to change the lock and key's for you.
Good luck and hope this helps: The relearn process is pretty simple and will take 30 minutes, if it'll work for you at all since your problem doesn't sound like a computer issue.

30-Minute Learn Procedure

Important:
Turn the Ignition Switch OFF.
