Psycho 99 VW Beetle - I think it may be possessed, because I roll the windows up, lock the doors and when I walk a few feet away - the car un-locks and the windows roll down automatically..HELP!!

These switches have a history of wearing out early. Inside switch needs to be replaced. Just pop it out but it is $$$$.

i think the wires in the door pilar rubber boot are damaged and this is why teh door will not open as its in the locked position when the wire broke that feeds the solonoid that operates the lock

yes contact vw america have them run your vin no deeler will say no north american vw beetles have the immobilizer system on them but mine does still fighting with them i posted an answer to a simulsr question 1 get in thun key but dont start lock & un lock doors with switch ger out use key to lock and unlock door holding key to roll window down & up repeat on passenger side

I went through the same thing with my Jetta here recently.

You need to replace your drivers side door locking mechanism. The mechanism has poor solder welds (thanks VW) that break under normal use. Eventually these welds will fail causing your door mechanism to think that it is being opened and closed all the time, does it seem like the car is possessed at times? Do the doors lock and unlock, or refuse to lock? Does the interior light come on while driving? These are a few of the symptoms.

When you lock you car and walk away the alarm is set and the car knows all the doors are closed, but when the door mechanism breaks contact the car thinks the doors been opened and sounds the alarm. I tightened up the two bolts at the end of the door, they are a torx pattern and required a rather large torx driver bits to fit them but they may straighten the problem out for a while if they are loose. It's a cheap temporary fix to the problem. Hope that Helps!!

Hi Rachel . It sounds like the plug on the drivers window motor (Which is also the ecu for that door) has come off or is loose . This will stop the cdl working as well . Regards VW Audi tech

The power for door lock servos and windows is on the same run of cable in wiring harness in door, with two very similar plugs that connect to the window switch and to the door switch. My guess is ou have probably connected the power window plug to the door and vice versa. You will notice one plug has 4 pins and the other has 5 (from memory) - make sure you match these up.

99% sure if you look in the accordian between the door and frame of the car you'll find cut wires. Pull back the rubber seal and check there first. If they are you'll have to remove the harness and fix it back to the connections in the car for a good repair or order a harness.
