Chances are the factory did not install a fuse in the location that powers the controller. Look in your manuall for the correct location for the fuse and then check your vehicle. If you can not find the location post a comment on here and i will check my book tomorrow and post it for you!

I am installing an electric trailer brake controller on my 2008 Ford F- 150 STX pick up truck and I need to know where it plugs in under the dash

Ford's factory supplied brake controller harness end can be found loosely stuffed under the dash, usually just above the driver's right leg. A Ford harness has a rectangular shaped connector.
Simply connect the brake controller harness connector into the vehicle connector. Zip tie the harness wires to another harness to prevent the wiring from hanging down near your feet.
I hope this helps.

Hi. There is a grey plug with 6 wires right behind your OBDII diagnostic port on the lower dash board above your accelerator pedal.

The color of the wires on the plug are blue, green, red, white and brown. The wires are as follows:
Blue....electric trailer brake feed
Green....brake pedal switch
Red...12v postitive...always hot
White....ground
Brown....interior vehicle illumination (not used)

The factory wire harness that you will need to attach your brake controller will plug right into this plug. The factory wires are colored the same as above.

After-market and brake conroller wires are colored as follows:
Blue....electric trailer brake feed
Red.....brake pedal switch
White....ground
Black....12v positive

You are probably going to find four wires together that do not have a plug on them. There should also be a tag taped on the wires showing that it is for the trailer. You will have to put a plug or some kind of connection on those wires.

If you are talking about the trailer brake pigtail under the dash, the brown wire is for the illumination on the brake controller, if applicable.

My reese hand held controller did not use this, so I just blind end tapped it into the harness.
If your brake controller does not have background illumination, then you don't need the brown wire.
Sounds like the controller is similar.

Need to install an electric brake on a 2004 dodge 1500 pick up under the dash

Get yourself a good trailer brake controller. If you have the tow pkg, which most of those did, then go get the adapter harness from Dodge (about $25) and wire that into the aftermarket controller (instructions will explain how to do this) and off you go.

If no tow pkg, then you'll have to wire one from scratch and if you are not comfortable doing it or have never done anything like it, you might consider having a repair factility do it for you? That way if it breaks....you get my point.

Good Luck
