As you have probably figured out by now, you will have to treat it as a no start and troubleshoot it when it fails to start. Until you figure out if you are loosing spark or fuel to the injectors when the engine dies you have no direction to go in.
That year they had issues with camshaft sensor wires and the crankshaft sensors wires,,touch each other..They run together in a wire harness and the insulation wears out and they touch intermittently..Follow the wires from the cam and the crank and see if they are touching each other
sounds like the fire is good, you might try replacing your fuel filter first and if it still has the problem then the fuel pump, do you hear the fuel pump whirring when you turn the key on? thats what the sound is that you hear when first starting the car, it will whirrr and then click letting you know it has proper fuel pressure
I have a 94 buick park avenue ultra for 3 yrs. and it started stalling out. Going on line, some people replaced most sensors and gas filter. My problem was vacuum lines that were shot and one, going yo the fuel pressure regulator wasn't connected, which was the main problem.
This could be one of many issues (or more than one!). When you say runs for 5 minutes, does it just stall? overheats? Probably not the crank sensor since when they go they go and engine will not run. If you can get it to Autozone or borow a diagnostic tool may be able to find an avenue to persue. My first thought is fuel from what you describe, fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors.
No switch. Take a big rubber hammer and strike bottom of tank while someone is cranking car. Sometimes this will make pump work until you shut it off to replace the pump.
