Car Stereo in 1999 Accord stopped working

My aftermarket stereo (has been in the car for years) suddenly stopped working. Checked the ACC fuse, it is fine. I also pulled out the radio and checked a fuse that was in back connected to a wire, it too looked fine. Tried replacing it with a new unit and nothing too. Any other suggestions as to the cause?

yellow no, red yes. I connected the new radio wires as the old ones were connected. Considering a couple of days ago the stereo was fine, I figured that should be okay. I checked some fuses, but couldn't find anything that was actually labeled for the radio or cig lighter. I don't think the cig lighter is working either, at least its not saying that my ipod is charging when I hook it up. Is the cig fuse the same as the radio fuse? Is it perhaps called something different?

the solid yellow wire should have power as well the cig lighter fuse is not always on the same circuit . try switching the red and yellow wires to see if the radio will get power. if u have a test light check all the fuse as they can be marked different.

2007 Pontiac G6 - with Boss BV765B. Car stereo only works when door is open!

Question edited for clarity.

It's a guess, but..... Because it only works with the door open, I am thinking there are broken wires or chaffing where the wires go from the door to the door jamb. 12 volt power, grounds and speaker wires don't mix and could have easily blown the circuitry in the old one.

Aftermarket stereo won t power on

you blew the fuse
check the fuses to radio, can be 2 or more.
1 in fuse box.
2 in radio, (some have 1 , and others have 2 or 3 more in side radio)
anything is possible with aftermarket, radios, 10,000 models, vast years. Ive repaired many. (ET)

the radio has a red wire, usually for power,
most radios have 3 power wires,
1 for rad ( this one dead) use a volt meter here.12v key on.
1 for dial
2 for memory

Blinkers on 1997 accord quit working after taking stereo out

I assume you removed stock stereo to replace with aftermarket. I assume you have checked the fuses. Did you cut the factory wiring or did you use a wiring kit that plugs into the factory wire harness?

My son's 1997 Honda Accord has an aftermarket stereo that works but his cigarette lighter doesn't. Could it be a fuse?

The thing is, whoever hooked up the stereo would know for sure where the connected into in order to get power to the stereo. If they went off somewhere ealse other than what the factory made to be the power for the stereo it would make sense. In the accord for your year the power to the stereo and the cigarette lighter is the same fuse if it was hooked to the same wiring that came with the vehicle. They may have by accident disconnected the lighter and it's just not hooked up at all. You can check the fuse for the cigarette lighter if you would like. that fuse is in the fuse panel located in the engine compartment and will be in the number 18 position and sould be a 15 amp fuse ( see diagram of the layout of fuses below). If that fuse is bad and corrects the problem then they hooked up to another power source when they hooked up the stereo. I hope this helps you and good luck.

Son tried to hook up stereo in his 98 Deville..Now trunk release, fuel door release, high beams, power windows and a few other things don't work. Checked fuses are good..

That's because he likely cut the power wire to these when he was looking for power sources for his stereo.
GM almost always has at least one empty spot on the fuse panel that will provide a power source for aftermarket equipment such as stereos. He'll have to put an in-line fuse in it. It should be marked ACC. If not a test light will easily show him where he can draw power from the fuse box. Hope this helps.
