It uses r-134a Freon and the capacity will depend on if you have rear a/c. There should be a label under the hood that shows a/c capacity that will give you an exact amount but should be around 2 lbs. for just front air and about 2.8 lbs. for front and rear.
I was told by a tranny mechanic that it was a problem with the transfer case, some kind of chain is sliping, I think this sounds weird, but our explorer is only slipping between 2nd and 3rd, anyone out there thinks we are getting duped, as we are thinking?
Probably Needs a replacement clutch. You could check the slave lever adjustment is ok but thats probably wishfull thinking.
