My 2006 V6 Impala isn't throwing any heat. Could it be a thermostat? And if so, what is the difficulty in installing a thermostat? Is it possible to get an engine diagram on line?

It could be a number of things not only your t-stat but also an empty reserve tank and even your water pump could be bad. make sure to check all those things out before you go on a replacement spree.

It may need a thermostat but first always do the obvious make sure that the reserve tank for the antifreeze is 3/4 full, low antifreeze can cause a loss of heat. First check that then do the thermostat. Be sure to bleed out the air from the system look for the bleeder screw it is located at the highest spot on the systems connections usually at the upper hoses housing, unscrew to bleed after the motor has warmed up while running.

My 2000 chevy 3500 6.5 turbo diesel isn't throwing out heat. where are the thermostat(s) located?

The thermostat housing is located on top and front of the engine. You will see a large radiator housing coming from it. There are 4 bolts to open the housing (15mm) and hose clamp(s) to loosen on the radiator hose. Once removed just pull out the 2 thermostats. When you are replacing the thermostat(s)-the gasket(s) for the housing are on the attached to the new thermostats- As you probably noticed when pulling out the old ones.

2006 Chevrolet impala I replaced thermostat and still wont heat! so disapointed. will neve purchase another and will discourage others from buying. any suggestions

I hope you have had more problems than just this before you dismiss a car brand.
Do you know if the engine is heating up ? Is the cooling system full of coolant ? Are the heater hoses getting hot ?
If the system is heating up the problem could be a faulty blend door under the dash.

No heat when engine temp is normal.

Had the same problem with my 2006 Impala with the 3.5 engine - there is an air pocket in the heater core. With the engine cold, remove the upper heater hose (marked with blue tape in the picture) and add water to the hose until coolant comes out of the metal cross-over tube. Fix takes 5 minutes…all you need is a pair of pliers and a funnel.f7b2b4c.jpg
