Timing belt broken kia rio 2003

it is an interference engine which means that when a belt breaks , you can expect at least half of the valves to be bent and need replacing
you can get more quotes for the job as that seems extreme
the work entails replacing the belt , idler pulleys , cam and crank seals and hydraulic adjuster ( a professional job to get another 60,000miles from the belt)
That much will set you back by around $1000.00 including labour
The extra is the head removal and new valves so add another $700.00 --including labour )for that and you can see that you need more quotes from accredited service shops

How much does a timing belt cost? and what could I expect to pay the mechanic on a 2002 Kia Rio Cino

The timing belt is not the big cost,if the belt has broken while you where driving the car the you may need to spend up to $3000 dollars to repair the damage caused by a broken belt.If your belt is not broke and you have over 50000 miles then get it replaced, expect to pay about $600-$900.This is dependant of labour rates and problems occurred during the repair, your price may be lower.

Broken timing belt 2002kia rio are the valves bent?

not always but to be on the safe side take the head off and check if you dont know how to check take the head to a shop get them to look at it.they shouldnt cost you anything if its good buy a cylinder head gasket and put it back on. if they are bad.its cheaper to buy a new head for the car assembled

2002 Kia Rio Timing Belt

yes, this is VERY IMPORTANT, this is an interference engine, meaning the valves and the piston cannot be in the same place at the same time,or it will bend the valves.then you are looking at a major repair job, think or it as insurance on your engine. please rate my fix as i strive to be the best, questions, get back to me

02 Kia Rio Stalled and won't start

Hi,this could be a bad timing belt , you can check it by removing the oil cap and have some one crancking the engine look inside,, if the valves does not move while the engine is turning you have a broken timing belt.......
