The 3.0 is getting on a bit now but they are good value still.
Injectors are still being covered under warranty by Isuzu by good dealers free of charge .
If you buy one you need a good  local garage service them properly  to the hand book specs .
We have 5 !  and my other half's did 206000 miles (1998 model) before the injectors gave trouble and Isuzu still fixed the engine free .

I pass on what I have learnt on here ,another good source to read about them is www.itocuk.co.uk

If you have warranty no prob. If not, and its done more than 150000km be carefull. I fixed one for 1800 AUD, no warranty.

What is the fuel pressure from the main pump to the engine.trying to be certain that my fuel have the require pressure for starting

Is the 30 ltr engine diesel? If so what was the reason and changed the Injectors? Did you follow the correct procedure to renew the injectors? This engine has two oil pumps. One is for the engine and the second one is the high pressure for the injection cranking system. On starting the engine and trying to start are you sure you receive the correct oil pressure to cause the injectors to open? If everything is okey,go to crank or cam sensor or even to the accelerator pedal. Also is better to clean the throttle body from any dirt. Use a scanner to give you the fault .Also bear in mind that these vehicles are fitted with the following secret,if you have a blown brake lights fuse or brake lights bulbs will not start, just engine turn and no engine run. It is the immobilizer activation. Do not over 32 times crank start otherwise you will loose ecu.

My Isuzu Bighorn 4JX1 RJM Engine stalled after fitting it with new oil pump. It can crank but is emits smoke but not run. What could be the problem? I have tried to check if the fuel pump is not working...

the engine oil pumps are in the rear of the engine(trans out) and behind flexplate /flywheel, were any of these 2 engine oil pumps touched if so the flywheel /flexplate has to be timed to crankshaft position, so you might have it in the wrong position, if your talking about the diesel lift pump (injector pump) that also supplies high pressure engine oil to injectors, after replacing this there is a learn procedure for the rail pressure control valve that is on pump. this can only be done by dealer or some one with Tech2 scanner tool.

ask the dealer(kia) for a diagnostic report, this will show what needs to be done then decide wether you can fix it, or your tame tech can do it, or even if you want the dealer to do the job, that way you control the bill,(play the dealer off against your mech to get the best labour rate/deal.(the dealer will try and baffle you with codes,do not accept this form of bulls..t.ask and get a FULL diagnostic report.after all your paying his salary.and even if you only get codes WE CAN HELP WITH THOSE..........

Oil mixing with Diesel and car emits white smoke.

The copper washers on the bottom of the injectors can give this fault if they are not renewed when the injectors are replaced .

If you have changed these allready and made sure you pulled them down exactly as the manual says in 3 stages then you may have a bad injector - see your Isuzu dealer .

02 isuzu trooper

Need a bit more information to go on as there is no injector pump on a 4JX1 its a rail type engine .
You can get flash codes to come up on the engine check light from the OBDII socket by connecting pin 4 to pin 6 and turning the key to ign on . the light will flash - count the flashes gonna be something like 4 then 3 and maybe some other depends on how many faults you got.

If you get none then try my tips .

Loss of acceleration

Before you end up with a huge repair bill I would strongly advise you to have the fault codes read by a main VW dealer. A faulty EGR valve will show up immediately in this case or the diagnoses will quickly point elsewhere.

Main dealers have the proper software for reading faults stored in the cars computer and it is not that expensive to have this done. Most will do it for around £40 - check with them beforehand of course! Small independents usually have a generic fault reader which is generally quite unreliable at diagnosing this type of fault.

In this particular case the best case scenario is a faulty EGR valve. Worst case scenario is that either the injector pump or turbo is faulty. These can all cause the symptoms you describe. Get the fault read then take the car back to the local garage to have the work done and so save on labour rates.
