How do I remove/replace passenger airbag and control module on 2001 MR2 Spyder?

Very careful, the first thing you need to do is remove the battery cables.

2001 Toyota MR2 Spyder. In Maryland, you have to do emissions. The first time it failed because I needed to replace an 02 sensor. When it went back, it failed because my check engine light bulb was out....

When you first put the key and turn it to ignition, all of your dash lights should light. That is how you check your lights. It is not an easy thing to replace. The dash lights are replaced as a unit. Check with your local auto shop for the part or you Toyota dealer.

What are some things that would make the check engine light come on in a 2001 mr2 spyder?

There could be so many things causing it. There is a sensor being tripped somewhere when you have a check engine light on. Could be simple like a loose gas cap, or could be an O2 Sensor, it could be one or more cylinders mis-firing (which is what mine was last week and changing the spark plugs did the trick for me). It could be a BUNCH of different things. I would take it to an auto parts store and ask them to run the code for you if you're "curious" but if you want it correclty diagnosed, take it to a dealer or good shop and have them run a full diagnostic on it. It's probably gonna run $75 to $100, but it's worth it. The auto chains sometimes run a code and give you a bunch of suggestions about parts to buy to fix it. They're most likely guessing and trying to get you to buy a bunch of parts. Hope this helps.

Failed smog

I have a 1989 toyota mr2 supercharge it is24 years old , this is the first time I had to change oxygen sensor, it passed after that, also set the timing. This has been the best car I've ever had.Im still driving it and i am the only person who owned it. Keep it,its a good investment. I have been asked if I want to sell it, but I just can't part with it.

Check engine light flash then steady

Your vehicle’s computer system has self-testing capability. When the computer senses that there is a problem with one of the components or sensors it stores the correspondent trouble code(s) in its memory and lights up the "Check Engine" or "Service Engine Soon" light to tell you that there is a problem and you need to diagnosed and repaired it. The list of possible codes number in the hundreds. The code itself doesn't tell exactly what component is defective - it only indicates where to look, or what engine parameter is out of normal range. You or a technician will have to perform further testing to pinpoint cause and the proper repair. If the light is flashing there is a severe failure of the emission-control system that is causing the engine to misfire to the point that the catalytic converter is damaged each time the Check Engine Light flashes. Even if you reset the light, if the underlying problem is not addressed it will come back on.

MR2 after 2 mins of starting the smt light comes on.

it sounds like the clutch actuator is worn out.
The clutch actuator has 2 parts:
1. the clutch master cylinder
2. the clutch slave cylinder.

Try to replace the slave cylinder first, and if it is still not solving the problem, then try to replace the clutch master cylinder

Good Luck
