Look for a blown fuse in your engine compartment fuse box. if you dont find one there then check the fuse panel in the dash under you column. it could be one of the larger feed fuses in the engine compartment fuse box so dont overlook those.

CarGurusJun 13, 2014 - Tail lights and dash lights went out simultaneously on Ford Explorer2000. Brake lights still work ... LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. Is this a fluke?
Electrical issues are always a bit difficult to diagnose. Since I have not heard the wiring harness to be an issue on these, I would first look into if there was some add on causing an issue. Did you or someone add a trailer harness? Some type of additional lighting (like an LED bar)? Even possible a radio or under dash work? If not then do a once over and look at where the wiring comes through the firewall, or through the body to feed the turn signals. You just have to systematically follow the wiring from the lights back to the switch until you find the culprit. Let me know what you find and I can try to assist further.
Well, it could be one of 3 fuses, but my money is on the multi-function switch. The brake lights and turn signals go thru the switch on different circuits. If the computer does not get a signal from the brake light switch it may disable the cruise control. I would pin test the circuits on the turn signal switch to see whats going in and coming out.
take the hazard button and tug and wiggle it real hard when pushing the brake pedal, if they start flickering, you will need a turn signal switch replaced.
The problem is in the stoplight switch. It is located under the dash. When you push the brakes, the switch contact points close. When you let off the brake, the open, turning the brake lights back off. Also your cruise will not work if it is getting a signal that the brake pedal is being pushed.
Check with http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. They may have the fuse location. I know some are behind the passengers kick panel. Hope this helps. Mike
