Try smacking down on the hood with a open hand. You may want to have someone inside to pull the lever while you hit on the hood.If you do get it open spray everthing down with a good lubicant.Well good luck and hope this helped.

Testimonial: "It worked just fine .I also used some wd40.Thanks"

2010 Chevrolet 2500 Extended Van can't get hood open. Inside latch flips open, but still can't raise hood.

Have someone press down on the hood with their palms while you try and release it, if it does open lube the hood latch with white lithium grease AKA "Lubriplate".

How to open a hood 1993 Buick century cable jam up

Miguel, 1993 Buick century hood cable broke. With a flashlight, you will have to lay under car and reach up where cable runs into latch and pull the latch mechanism/lever to unlatch hood. If not comfortable doing this call a locksmith and they will have it open in seconds. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Nissan quest dead battery - keys locked in van - get hood open

you need too get some sort of hook on the end of a handle, something smaller but still strong enough to pull against with out bending or breaking. then standing at the front of the van using a flashlight look through the grill until you find the hood latch, then locate the black cable running into the side of the latch hook on to it and pull as hard as you can while simultaneously bouncing pressure on the font center area of the hood with your other hand until you hear/feel the hood latch release or "pop"!

The primary hood latch for my 1998 Chevy Astro Van does not work, how can I open my hood?

My '02 astro van hood latch used to stick shut also. I was able to open it by having a friend operate the pull handle under the dash while I picked up on the hood. After I got it open I used some cleaner to degrease the latch mechanism and lubed it all with a good penetrating oil. It's worked like new ever since. I suspect I'll have to relube it every once and a while just to keep it working like new, after all it's a moving mechanical part.

Help please. The Hood Latch inside the van will not disengage, how can I open my Hood ?

This is a tough one but can be done, you will need to use a long screw driver and from under the van try to push on the release lever, this is the lever that the cable connects to to release the hood, you can also try from the grill area, this also depends on where the cable broke, or maybe the hood is just stuck, have somone pull up on the hood while you pull and release the hood cable this is to see if the latch is just sticking, hope this helps.

Hood release lever not releasing hood tried bouncing the hood while pulling lever i am pulling the correct lever

I had same problem. Sprayed latch with WD-40 and no more problems. P.S. The lever should say "Hood" or there should be a picture of an open hood.

If lubrication doesn't work, your cable might be stretched or your latching mechanism might be defective. In either case, a visit to your local salvage yard will solve the problem.

Broken hood release cable. Can't open hood

this is a hard one it depends on where it broke, can you cut the housing to get to cable core and pull with pleirs, if it snapped at latch then you will need to remove the grill or go from the bottom and try to hit the release the same wat the cable did, sometime if you grab the cable near the latch and pull hard it will open, good luck.

Hood latch

Try spraying the latch mechanism with WD-40 or similar light oil and operating the release cable a number of times. Check the condition of the release cable if nothing happens. The latch itself may have a broken spring due to the low temps.

1998 astro van secondary hood latch will not release

it can be unbolted, but it sounds like your primary latch could be giving you problems. have some one play with the hood release (pushing and pulling) while you release secondary latch and pull up on hood. if you get it open spray all moving parts with wd40.
